I saw 21 entries from France on the flashing list, same as Hungary.

Gipsy Moth has obviously found a good new home where she will be back in her element and sailed but I think it a pity that she will be lost to the sight of the many thousands of people who could see her when she was in Greenwich. She is, after all , more or less a national monument. Sadly another casualty of Covid.
I have happy memories of Gipsy Moth. I sailed into Ramsgate harbour one evening, looking around for somewhere to moor, I saw this rather nice ketch and the skipper invited me alongside. It was not till then that I realised that I was alongside Gipsy Moth and Francis Chichester had taken my ropes.

Cheers,
Nerys

If nothing else, this quiz has been instrumental in showing us the world wide membership of this forum. Surely it is the top model boat forum in the world.

She is not really on display there, more like waiting for a new buyer, Greenwich was the last true place she was on display.

I didn't know about the move from Greenwich, it was there when I visited in 2018.
So although I have been given a correct answer mark, I think Stephen should scrap today's question to make it fair for all.
Cheers Colin.

We have all been Googling like mad! It seems as thought boats are passed around whether models or full size. Even if a boat is neglected there is always someone who is prepared to do a renovation.

The answers are all wrong for todays question So now I have a wrong answer Beaulieu River
the correct answer should be☹️; Beaulieu River is home to Sir Francis Chichester's record-breaking yacht, Gipsy Moth IV.

My answer was wrong. I am sure that it drove past the door of my answer on the back of a truck once many years ago. Probably got diverted by roadworks. That must be why I got it wrong.😬

Re Rainbow Warrior.- a few pics I took at Wynyard wharf not long after she was raised, and being prepared for scuttling as an artificial reef. You can see on the stbd side under the 'peace' the large patch which was welded in (grey area) over the bomb hole. She resides on the bottom near the Cavalli Islands (off Matauri Bay - Northland NZ) Scuttled in 12 Dec 1987, bombed in July 85.

I drove a 75 which I had for 8 years. I sold it 10 years ago and I regret it. One of the best rides I ever had. Now I use Rover as a "brand" for some of my boats (it just sounds pretty cool).

What rotten luck Nerys🤔
Very similar to my experience hiring a yachet on Elba many years ago with Francis Chichester ambitions - well at least as far as Corsica😁.
Result: no wind 😠 so just pottered round the north coast on the aux motor to a secluded bay and spent the day sunbathing and diving! Hey ho! My great sailing adventure🙄
Had more luck on Tenerife several years later😉 Went dolphin spotting😀
