Hi Doug, thanks for the warm welcome and advice.

Yes, it is the VMW kit and I have had a quick look at Robob's blog of the same, plus a couple of more recent ones.

Having no experience at all of this craft, I find it even more challenging when the blogs go 'off piste' from the provided instructions!

Great to know I've got some backup on this forum when the 'wheel' comes off.

    Cheeers, Andy

    Hi Andy, Welcome aboard shipmateπŸ‘πŸ˜€
Apart from Michael's excellent version you might like to take gander at Robob's ground breaking blog of the test, evaluation and build of the original 36" Vintage Model Works prototype kit.

    Hi Mike
Thanks for the welcome and your offer, it's a VMW, which I believe is the same as yours. I have been looking at your blog together with a couple of others, Robob's and Nickthesteam's.

Hi All, sorry if this is in the wrong category, but I couldn't find anywhere that looked more suitable.

I'm completely new to model making, unless plastic Airfix kits of the 50's/60's count!
I am, however a fairly competent woodworker and turner.

The reason for the change in tack, is that for a special birthday, my son bought me a model boat kit......'The 36 inch Police Launch' .

I've already discovered that there are at least 3 blogs on your forum that describe the construction of this, hence my enrolment here.

It's far too hot to get in my workshop (shed) at the moment, which is perhaps a good thing, as I'm studying the instructions and the blogs on this forum.
Sorry if that's a bit long winded, I'll try to be briefer in the future.

    Thanks for having me, AndyS
