Just to remind me did it turn out to be a Hectoperm? They made 6 volt and 12 volt versions of both motors mentioned. If you think 6 volts seems better you probably have a 6 volt version. The 12 volt versions are just a little more efficient than the 6 volt ones.
It all hinges around the brushes and the voltage drop. It is simple arithmetic, will explain if interested!

These are great gear-motors, known as Decaperms.
I believe they are rated for 12 volt, and your ESC is also rated for 12volt, they were sold in North America through Horizon Hobby
I have sold many of these over the years.

While all this has been going on I have been working out why my trusty Sea Jay copy with the Bassett-lowke Marine motor did not perform.

After much testing, the smoke was coming from the motor but suspected old esc which proved to be OK. I had a spare BL marine motor so fitted that. But there was a mis-match of RC crystals as well.
I am on 27Mhtz I call it staying in character, others know I am reluctant to throw away perfectly good but dated equipment.

So coffee and a sit down while I get my eyesight back to normal.

Hi Colin I have looked at my decaperm and the A & P line up with the V underneath. That is in agreement with your point. I am not going to contest it as there were a few variants but the diameter should resolve it.

When I think about it my old Hectoperm, long gone now, was more than 4 inches long and bigger altogether.
The Decaperm in my hand now, has 4 slotted holes each side and the pictured one has 5, interesting!

The text is DECAPERM in capitols with 6V under but central and below that max 7A

    regards to all.
