Too right Doug, suits our No 8 wire technology attitude down to the ground. I believe we are known round the world for it ? I was working on Norfolk Island (South Pacific) as maint manager of the largest hotel there in the 70s and put up a a temporary aerial for an American guest who was a Patent Attorney and Ham operator, and carried his Yaesu round the world with him on holidays. He managed to connect with a guy in the states just around the corner from his place in SF, (which was amazing enough) and was telling him about the aerial. He allowed me to talk to this guy for a sec, and one of the first things he said to me was, I've heard you Kiwis can make anything with No 8 wire and a piece of wood" Cracked me up that he knew of that story and he'd never been to NZ!
PS Oamaru is way down the East coast of the Sth Island, about 600miles away so unfortunately have not been yet.
