Yup
Living in SA we have lot to be not thankful for. Walk along the promenade but not the beach. Churches and Funerals a maximum of 50 but Model Clubs cannot meet as most of us are past 60!
Even the younger ones who belong to the R/C truckers can't meet at the moment
Can't get into the workshop as it is 9 Degrees
Only old in years not mind or soul.

Hi Red,

Maybe it's to late LOL!

I totally agree this site definitely helps a lot.
Thank you Stephen.

I should imagine most of us on this site are classified "At Risk" - the average age of the club in UK I belonged to must be over 70...........
So I agree with Martin re the social distancing...........
But some of the rules re not being able to visit an ill friend seem a bit harsh.
The classic one here is recreational fishing is allowed - but you are not allowed to walk on a beach........
So re-iterating Doug's statement - thank you Stephen for this platform allowing us to stay in touch with friends all over the world - and to make new ones.

Funny We have a higher death and infection rate from TB in SA than CVD 19 but it's good to chat on lockdown as I am over 60 I am not allowed to go anywhere!
Took a chance and popped into a local model shop the other day (30km's away) The owner was telling me that Tamiya Paints will be scarce till December

Hi Jb,
Ref:- It's great to be able to 'talk' to people on the other side of the world.
You can class that as social distancing LOL!!

Glad to hear everyone's hanging in there and staying safe. At the moment in NZ we have no cases (3 weeks) and the last oldy just left hospital (a Samoan woman I think) BUT, that doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of carriers floating around who just haven't got close enough to someone yet. We are down to level 1 now so everything is pretty much back to normal. People are still taking precautions just to be on the safe side. This virus will probably be lurking in the background forever now, along with the flu, sars, ebola, measles, and a million other nasties that humans can contract, but we've built up immunity to many of these and if we are careful, they should not be too much of a worry in the future.

Strange that no-one has mentioned how many deaths there have been from other diseases, and it's all been about this virus. Because it's new it's had a good whack at us but I'm sure it will reduce in time to flu status and be more manageable.
It's great to be able to 'talk' to people on the other side of the world about a common hobby, and share our thoughts and ideas on many subjects. The old saying "a problem shared is a problem halved" or in this case minutely segmented certainly applies, and a bit of humour and friendly 'ragging' goes a long way to making this a great site. Also as others have said, without Stephens efforts we wouldn't be conversing now.

Stay safe guys, it'll come right soon and you'll be happiness filled😊. Just be glad we don't live in the back blocks of South America at the moment with no hope of medical care, and you're left where you fall to rot. We really haven't too much to complain about, and if we do it's mainly just from the frustration of being temporarily deprived of some pleasures. Lots to catch up on after this, keep thinking about that.😊

" We can let off steam, such as moaning about the Welsh governments' reluctance to bring in any easement as there is in England."
Be careful what you wish for Nerys!
Several northern states here in Germany had prematurely eased restrictions (to encourage tourist business🙄).
And now?
They are now back pedalling because infection rates rose and several 'infection hot spots' developed where clamp downs were immediately reimposed.
Bear in mind that the UK has apparently a death rate from Covid 19 about five times higher than that here in Germany!!
Stay safe U 2🤞,
Doug 😎

Thoroughly agree PP👍
I'm very glad that the Minister President and his ministers here in Bavaria are more cautious than some in the northern German states.
They are also seeing a rise in the infection rates. We down south are not!!

Please don't complain too much about staying in place. The Governors here in the USA have opened up a lot of places and the infection rate is climbing. Throw in large protests (that's all I'm saying about that) and I think we're going to see a second wave that will make the first one look tame. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
I worked through the first wave, but will sit out the next one...

"This site is amazing ..."
Not the site itself Rick (although I reiterate that Stephen has done a really great job creating it for us👍).
It's the people who use it and feed it that make a site truly great, and you are ONE OF US Rick👍

I think this site is good for all of us, apart from the knowledge that instant help will come from a request, it's nice to know we have somewhere to share all our daily frustrations, and there's enough of those at the moment. We can let off steam, such as moaning about the Welsh governments' reluctance to bring in any easement as there is in England.
Thanks everyone and particularly Stephen for making this site the force that it is.

All the best and keep safe, Nerys

Not quite so sure about the no side effects PP!
I still seem to do the odd crazy thing😉
Haven't stormed any schools with automatic rifles or planned to blow anyone up!
But I do think the experience gave me a different outlook on life and the rat race.
At work I started refusing the obviously hopeless projects and concentrated on those where I knew the background and people. With success😊
Caused some friction and discussion with my bosses at the outset- but 'nothing succeeds like success'. My inherent humour also came more to the forefront, which my friends noticed and it also helped me a lot to win folks over in contract negotiations.
Re recurring symptoms - so far no! Unless you count my nutty sense of humour😁
Best regards, stay safe and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!, Doug 😎

I'm a 17 year throat cancer survivor. You can beat it. Treatment has come a long way since then and help from support groups (including here at MBW) is just a post away. If you believe you can beat it, you will. Take care and stay safe.

"I email her daily as she is deaf, but it's not the same as seeing her. "
Know what you mean Colin.
Unfortunately Mum only Emailed once in her life; using my PC on a visit to Munich in 2004, she sent a Happy Birthday message to HM The Queen.
She (Mum!) was 'chuffed to little mintballs' to discover that something like that was possible.
Especially when she an got answer from a Lady in Waiting: "Her Majesty thanks you for your birthday wishes and has instructed me to ..."
At 95 she's not quite stone deaf but with every call I first have to BELLOW into the phone to remind her to switch on her amplifier!!
Heartily agree with you re 'site chatter'👍
All the very best to you and the 'other C'.
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS Thinks; WHEN our Mums score their 'tons' will they receive the famous Telegram or an Email or SMS?🤔

Hi Rick
Although the news you received was stressful you did the right thing by phoning and letting your friend know someone is there. Its amazing how a phone call to hear someone's voice and a quick catch up can lift peoples spirit.
I live 200 miles from my 84 year old father and call every night to check in and its worth it as you can hear and judge any changes which you then act on if needed.
Keep doing what your doing buddy

Hi Rick,
As a cancer patient going through treatment at the moment I can sympathise with you ,I personally feel a bit in limbo with a lot of the support infrastructure put on hold ,consultations being conducted over the phone when you really need to speak to someone face to face .
Its good to share your concerns rather than bottle it up ,I know I couldn't have coped half as well over the last few years without the help of family and friends .
I know at this time with folk in isolation that things are much harder ,I know that its difficult but try to stay strong and positive .
My thoughts are with you and your friend and family .
Stay safe.

Cheers Mark

We are all stuck at present, I only live 85 miles away from my mum and can't visit her in Wales from England. It's her 95th birthday on Saturday.
Haven't seen her since last August as my own health stopped me visiting her and then this virus lockdown.
I email her daily as she is deaf, but it's not the same as seeing her.
The rest of the family keeps in touch via video link but mum doesn't have it available to her.
It's the chatter with the members of this site that keeps me sane and stops me from being depressed.
Please help anyone you can and it helps you.
Keep safe and well in this crazy world.
Cheers Colin.

Know what you mean Rick.
I'm frustrated that I can't visit my family in UK.
Especially my Mum, 95 in March, couldn't even make it to her birthday!
A phone call cheered her up a bit though.
Best you can do under the circumstances is stay in touch, by whatever means available, to let your friend know that you haven't forgotten him and are with him in thoughts and spirit.
Chin up Old Chap!
All the best, Doug.

Hi Rick.
I understand your concerns.
My wife is a Hospiscare clinical specialist.
Hospiscare is a UK based palliative charity that cares for end of life patients, and patients who are seriously ill and require care and support.
Do you have a similar structure where you are.
Although we are a distance apart, our thoughts are with you in these difficult and challenging times.

I needed some where to talk about how we can help someone who may be sick.I made a phone call this morning to check in with a friend and found out he is sick with pneumonia and it may be covid the test is pending.I have an empty feeling as I can't go and see him I don't know how to help and that must be the helpless feeling families have now in this new time we are in.To all the members on our site keep helping the way you have been by staying in touch. For me your help and humor lift me up every day.God Bless .
