I guess you are referring to me Pete.
Guilty as charged 😔
That's around the time I finished my Sea Scout restoration and update and published the Sea Trials, May 2018, which was all a lot of fun.
Shortly after that the wheels started to come off.
I realised I was suffering not cramps but COPD and arterial sclerosis in the legs and had to give up my league bowling.
Also the BREXIT disaster started to ramp up and causing us ex Pats considerable agro and time wasting with various authorities. That problem is heading towards a peak now thanks to Boris😠
My modelling attempts became somewhat half-hearted, resulting in three stalled restoration / conversion projects. But that didn't mean I'd forgotten how to do it or how to research.
I have done a few things in the meantime, mostly to help others - notably Taycol motor restorations and conversions and LED lighting circuits.
I also suddenly (and unexpectedly) became a Site Administrator/Moderator and started to spend more and more time playing Policeman and Ombudsman on the site. Seems to have worked - I hope.

I've wondered for a little while if I've acquired a reputation as 'the know-All who does nothing', which your comment seems to confirm. So now that I have a Deputy Ombudsman (Fleet Admiral Martin and his able assistant Admiral Ed) maybe it's time for me to retire and hand over to the next generation.
Was hoping to set Martin a record target of 25000 points and watching how long it took him to achieve it.😉 23000 will have to do, shouldn't take him long👍

I`ve been waiting for 2 years.
I cannot promise to finish one project before starting another. I know, I tried.

There seems to be quite a lot going on that you are keeping us in suspense about Fleet.
I am now poised and waiting for the reveal.

Motivation

I was quite touched when I read this thread.

I am self employed and work from home running a training and development company with my wife. She is the clever client facing half of the team and I am the behind the scene plate spinner. Psychology and how humans work(?) is something I have been close to for 30 years through the exploits of my wife.

With less work due to the pandemic I thought I would have a field day with more time to dedicate to my hobbies - this has not turned out to be what I expected.

I find I think of things during the day that I wish to accomplish and then when I sit down later in the day I often pack up within 5 -15 minutes with my mind in complete turmoil.

I cannot explain what is happening - I find it incredibly difficult to get my teeth into a productive modelling or software development session - I have achieved very little since March 20. In the past I would make the best of every minute and advance my projects significantly on a daily basis.

So I cannot explain what is happening but for those struggling for motivation - you are not alone!!

Regards
Jonathan .
I think it's the way I have learnt most of my stuff - getting very stuck first...

Hi Rick, Alice has been relishing a project like this for ages though I must admit we were really looking for a bigger vehicle such as an ex mobile library or 7.5 ton horsebox.. Had we done that we could have driven it to Ikea and just gone in and furnished it!

Cheers Nerys

You all know what my next project is. I've been burbling on about it for weeks so I won't run a competition to guess what it is. However you might be surprised at my approach to it, all will be revealed in due course.

Cheers, Nerys

Hi shipmates, like everyone else here I feel a sense of isolation during this time, but coming on here and feeling the positivity, support and friendship that is shown to each other gives me a boost and helps me to keep motivated. We can all have those dark days, but with the knowledge that I'm not the only one and seeing how others are coping and moving through it keeps me going.

Take care everyone

If Alice really didn't want to go on with the minibus I'm sure she would let you know. Also it lets her be busy and a project to do.
Good for you Nerys on the next project.

Nerys,

You have more motivation than me at least you ordered your next project and i am sure when it arrives you will burst into it.

Are you going to tell us what it is and will you do a build log.

I've been struggling for weeks, too lethargic to do anything, but to try and force myself out of it, I've ordered my next project. Hopefully when it arrives I will be fully enthused and actually get on with it. I feel quite guilty pushing poor Alice to get on with our minibus conversion whilst I just sit here playing with my computer or sleeping.

Cheers, Nerys

Not alone. That you are not as I see it we are all together in this pandemic .
We have so much in common as far building goes.
I believe with every post and comment from all we get a chance to know one another.
A nod of approval for a job well done.
A smile or laugh at some of the posts.
Having some post that they made a misstep nodding that you have made the same misstep.
WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER.

Hi Rick,

Luckily i have a few great members that i talk with on Skype and that makes me feel good.
I have not stepped outside of my house even before this virus surfaced.
That is probably part of the reason why i feel the way i do.

" i am really struggling with getting myself motivated"
Same here Martin🤔 Stuck in the doldrums⛵, and no paddle available!
Lots of ideas, as usual🙄, but total lack of urge to clear the decks and start (or even finish!) something. Just about managing to get the basic household stuff done.
Keep on trying to inspire us folks, something must click soon🤞

Martin I believe that in this time of insulation that we are missing others. We miss going to a pond or area to meet with fellow boat builders.
I know we chat post and read what others are doing.
I think seeing each other watching them run there boat telling how they built it or what power unit is in the boat.
When we are able to see others it gets me motivated to.
Not sure on others but I miss the monthly meets we had with my club hearing other talk in groups.
We try not to let this insulation get to us we are social people and need contact.
Martin you will know when the time comes to start a project
As I said in another post we still need your help and support.

Looks like I will have to send my niece to see you Martin - she's no motivator but her whinging will drive you in desperation to your boat building corner...........
Seriously though you have to snap out of it soon - best way to get motivated is to actually start something.
