I bought most if not all of the fittings and since have decided that the way to go is to make what you can from what I can get hold of.
So all other model boats are and will be scratch made.
I have two on the burner at the moment.
Anyway some of the Ayton Cross looks right some of it does not.
But I can always do it again as I hopefully get a little better.
This one again is awaiting Ballast and it will be ready to go.
I fitted two Engel 12 volt motors and made the mounts in grp then Laminated them into position..
Everything has been hand painted and slightly aged .
The bow thruster was made using some household plumbing pipe a small propshaft Again home made and it works very well.
Something to play with as I build hopefully better.

Dave - buglerAble SeamanIf you research who the original builders were, then the plans would be most likely be available from the archives of the builders. in most cases where vessels were built in Scotland for instance, the plans, if available would be held either by the Glasgow University Archives or the Scottish Archives. Although there are costs involved in obtaining copies of the originals, it is well worth it in the long run so that the details is correct. Grp Hull and this time using 2 mm plastic.
Balsa wood and again what ever I could find laying around.
The decking is just printed paper and stuck down with Varnish.
Just needs some ballast and it is ready to go.
Again a home made grp hull and everything else Balsa wood and a few bits I could find about the house..
Well this one too has been scrapped and the hull reused.
Or set aside for another one at a later date.
So at this time is just a fitted out hull
A springer tug.
I made a mould and then made a few just in case i was to the point of everything going wrong at least I could start another one.
Apart from the home made GRP hull everything else was made in Balsa wood.
Since been scrapped but the hull and all the electrics ect have been reused again for another version..

Model has steam horn sound together with bilge pump and fully equipped lighting system
Have extensively weathered the model to create realism to imitate what it probably looked like after many years steaming and working round the world in the 1930's
A smoke generator has also been fitted which together with the twin screw steam engine gives a realistic look when on the water
- BallastChief Petty Officer 1st ClassNicely finished tug with that well executed patina of a well loved, used vessel. 10 out of 10👍😎Nicely finished tug with that well executed patina of a well loved, used vessel. 10 out of 10👍😎Liked by figtree7nts

- circle43nauticalChief Petty Officer 2nd ClassThat's a great model kit. I have built several Dumas kits over the years and have never been disappointed. They allow you to use your imagination and skills; but my first RC project some28 years ago was a Billings Boats 1:20 USCG 44 foot Motor Lifeboat like yours with an ABS hull and wood superstructure. To be honest, I've been working on her for as long as I've been a father! Always adding details or overhauling, I reckon. A couple of years ago I took her apart and repainted the hull. Now I am periodically reassembling her with the original fittings. My present project is a Barracuda RC Boats 1:12 USCG 52' Motor Lifeboat, of which there are only three kits world-wide. The actual MLB "Triumph" (CG-52301, 2 were built in 1935) was lost with all hands during a rescue attempt off Cape Disappointment, WA in January 1961.That's a great model kit. My Father built strong aircraft, and I always preferred boats. I overbuild my boats in the same manner. My weakness is that I can't wait for the glue to dry. Looks good & keep up the great work! Am in the process of assembling the top deck. Have a question? ..... Has anyone used a glue gun in their assemblies, whether it be for only a few parts or more?
