This is the first radio controlled model I have attempted.
It was purchased weekly (80 weeks) when I was living in Spain. Only problem was that all the text and instructions were in spanish and my understanding of spanish was severely limited!!!!!!!.
But with a translation program on my PC I was able to complete the model.
As I said this is my first excursion into wooden modelling, although I am proficient in plastic modelling, especially aircraft.
As a first model I am somewhat proud of the completed model, although it is yet to be christened on the water.
Since completing this I have built a Royal Navy Frigate circa 1799, sadly I was unable to transport it back to the UK. it is awaiting my return to Spain.

The idea of an on board cam was thanks to another member who submitted a video last year of their Sea Queen (see video gallery), I liked the effect so thought I'd give it a go myself. it seems to have worked?

1/36 scale LA Fireboat #2 challenges the Portland Fire Bureau's 1927 fire boat, David Campbell, at the Portland Maritime Heritage Festival 2008.
We Lost...New pumps for next year though. - - - 1/36 scale model uses twin graupner voith schneider drives, and twin ESC. Main power is 12volts for the drives, and auxillary pump, and one 6v for the main monitor pump.

Of all the data files on the Crash Boat I have not ever seen any details/ drwgs for the vehicle specifically used to transport the Crash Boat types ( Ie the British Power Boat co ) had transporters for their craft. Anyway I enclose a picture of the OFFICIAL English designed TRANSPORTER vehicle for the Crash Boat and a photo of verification as modelled by Peter Dimberline. I have kept my model stock standard, still have the original plastic red Graupener prop of old I think it is a 30 with a nick or two. Soft copper brake tubing pipe (1/8 I/d) is only around the head and one of the inline exhaust resonators has a water tube outer casing to cool the exhaust piping and inner tube gas temperature which takes out the energy/heat of the exhaust gas and dramatically reduces noise. Scratch built SDM MkII tug 1/48 scale.

Hull started out as polystyrene foam and plywood. Started July 29,2006 and in the water by Aug. 11th for sea trials. Detailed over the following 18 months.

The model is powered by 12vdc using Graupner Speed400-2.33:1 gear drive, and the small Graupner Schottel drives #1761. Separate ESC and Steering control for each drive.

The Lighting is 3mm LED cast into clear, or tinted, polyurethane lamps.

It sails the Pacific Northwest, USA, homeport Portland, Oregon.

These pictures are of a scale model of Captain Joshua Slocum's "Spray". it was sailed around the world, singlehanded between 1895-1898. Slocum re-built a Delaware oysterman hull in Fairhaven, MA and had been a gift to him.

After reading of his exploits in an original copy of his book, 'Sailing Alone Around The World' 1899 The Century Co., John copied the drawings that were in the book, established a scale for each and then converted those scales to just one - 1"=14.6" and proceeded to make a model of the famous boat. At that time [2003-2004] there was a commercial kit available but after much research John concluded that he had enough information from the book to build his own version. Actually the available kit contained some mis-information about the boat and that settled the matter.

The model was built plank-on-frame and then covered with epoxy/glass since it was intended for RC. He sailed her during the summer of 2004 and was quite pleased with her performance. An opportunity to sell the model came to him and he did so in January 2005.
