Admittedly there is a certain similarity in hull shape, not surprising since both classes were based on current commercial trawler / whaler designs.
But that's as far as it goes. Attached is a photo (port side) of an early (short forecastle) Flower, K63 Picotee.
Put that 'head to head' with the pic of Baffin's starboard side, and stbd view of the model in the video, and the differences are immediately apparent so I won't list them here.
Y'all can play 'Spot the differences' 😉
First clue for me was the Pennant number; T275. 'T' for Trawler.
The Flowers had pennant numbers beginning with 'K' for 'K'orvette😉 coz 'C' was already in use for Cruisers and Carriers.
So I looked for HMS or HMCS T275 and immediately hit HMS Baffin. Digging deeper I also found this on UBoat Net-

Q.E.D. 😉
Easy mistake to make TD.

- GARTHCommodoreWIKIPEDIA has a great write up about this style of boat .But there isn't any explanation about how it got it's name . Maybe Ontario Canada had alligators 100 years ago & we ate them all up & Great with a beaver burger to .Liked by RNinMunich
- RNinMunichFleet Admiral"Maybe Ontario Canada had alligators 100 years ago & we ate them all up"
and you all wear croc skin boots since then I suppose😉
"there isn't any explanation about how it got it's name"
Sorry, can't accept that so I dug around a bit, as usual
Turns out that Norfolk County have a restored Alligator boat, albeit a later version with screw, so I checked out their Heritage site-
and the solution is ...
"Dubbed the “alligator” because of its amphibious nature, ..."
i.e. because of it's ability to winch itself across land between lakes 😮
Seek and ye shall find😉
I much prefer your version with paddle wheels though👍
Cheers, Doug 😎

Next stop, the lake !, after I modify the launching trolley and making a stand. Unfortunately can't demo the stereo working due to new YT music censoring rubbish. No different to sitting at the beach with a radio, but YT warns you about copyright which is just moronic.
(dry test)
- jbkiwiFleet AdmiralHi Bill, wasn't game to try that, kept trying to bash itself to bits. Hopefully be out to the pond soon, just sorting the launching trolley out. Restrictions make waiting for things (sponge tubing in this case) a pain, slows every simple 5min job down to days.😐

The music is a problem because of the algorithm YT uses. seems to pick up the most obscure music (even old rare 70s stuff) and starts warning you about copyright . Don't know how it does it, but I've even tried Cuban music, and it still picks it up (mind you who's going to have a go at you from Cuba😁) The bit of rubbish stuff I made on a free beat site got past it though,- strange ??
Even if you play the music,- (obviously in the model vid) it will still pick it up,- and if someone is parked next to you in a car with the stereo going and you are recording something else!! This is just beyond stupid, as you are using it for private purposes and not being paid for doing it. Seems like the whole world is - 'cant play this, can't record this, can't video this, can't have kids playing on swings, might hurt themselves, can't make noise' etc etc. The govt can record people without them knowing, but you can't !!! All about control. I'll do a vid on the water with music - "I was just videoing someones' boat sir" and see what happens.

- jbkiwiFleet AdmiralDon't know if you have this Garth, ? did you get any instructions with the unit, and are you able to manually change the sounds? Some of the truck sounds may be useful if they are on your unit. If you need the manual calibration and manual setting instructions, let me know.

- GARTHCommodoreThat's the pool for running model boats in Burlington Ontario Canada. It was closed most of the summer & all the boat guys are happy to be running .We sailed at the Leander Boat club on the Hamilton Harbor in the spring but the green algae started & weeds got real bad so off to Burlington . Your summer is coming & our fall is almost here.Liked by Puddle-pirate and jbkiwi
