Just renovated this one not been used of several years, I need to get back into sailing, was running on a 400 size motor now on a outrunner Mystery D2632-100 and it seems to go very well, will post it on the water later.

The wooden block is screwed and araldited ti the keel and supports an Aluminium bracket designed for holding a Brushless motor in an Aeroplane, use what’s available I always say.
The coupling is Silicon tube fitted to brass universal coupling fittings and because the way brushless run is very quiet compared to a normal Unversal Joint assembly.

I have a Sea Commander with a D3548-1100kv,3S Lipo,60Amp ESC and a 2 blade 40mm CNC prop.
I bought a Precedent Huntsman 34" a few weeks ago and may be running a 3639-1100 or a 3648-1450 instead of the D3548 motor.
As for motor mounts the aluminium angle works well and I just epoxy glue it in place.

HI Two Pictures Before and After, As Purchased on Ebay and Now ready to sail.
First sail 16-12-2012 Cwmbran. First fitted a too powerful Outrunner with a small rudder no good would not steer or go straight. so changed outrunner to a lower rated one about 1200 kVA and fitted a larger rudder (medium size as opposed to a small one). The result was very good and she ran all morning on a 2 x 4.8 Volt 3800 MAh Nimh in series 9.6V total, for about 2 hours.
Hi, I'm currently in the process of building my first model. it's one of my fathers that has been sat in the loft, kit form for 30 odd years. I have the decals to turn it into a fire boat but I'm struggling to find a suitable monitor to place on the coach house roof. Can you remember where yours came from?
Hi, it's not a proper monitor on the cabin roof, but the spray nozzle from an air freshener the type that are battery powered and spray one burst every 15 minutes. I suppose that you could attach a small pipe to it and make it into a working monitor if you wanted too. Hope that this helps Graham.👍
I've had this boat in the shed for years and at last have started to do some mods on it but will it work, will hopefully try it tomorrow at Cwmbran. Has any one tried this before, it will run on a 3800KVa Brushless Outrunner from an Helicopter with a 70 Amp Red Brick Forward only speed controller, first runs on a 7.4 2 Cell Lipo and then 3 cell 11.1 volt Lipo and if I feel brave I have a 4 Cell 14.8 volt Lipo as well, it's prop is 30mm but have 25mm and 35mm two blade bronze ones to try.
Looks like you are in for some serious fun. You may be able to get the best performance if you have or can borrow a wattmeter to see the effect of different battery / prop set ups. Brushless motors and LiPo's don't like it if you exceed their power ratings.
Looking forward to hearing the results, or maybe a video of the boat on the water.

Thanks Don for your comments, My hovercraft is scratch built,the skirt is unique because it has no holes for lift, the lift comes from slots under the hull, making it fast on land and water. Was that you travelling south on the M6 motorway with your craft Sat 8th?
This is the third craft I built and this was test day went very well on both land and calm sea now resides in South America giving tourists rides.It is powered by a 110hp KawasakI 600 Ninja engine for thrust and a 13hp B&G for lift.

MaiamI scratch built and Vic Smeed 37 1/2" Thornycroft PT
A quick ( 3 weeks) rough 35" balsa MaiamI powered by Turrnigy 28/30 outrunner , 3cell LiPo and 30A ESC made for my son who wasn't that interested so I am adding a bit more to it and 'playing' with it myself .
Vic Smeed plan Thornycroft took about 20yrs (on and off) to complete and has an Electronize 43HX 24v 15A controller, 2x 400 sized 6-12v brushed motors 4cell 3000MAh LiPo for main power with seperate 3 cell LiPo running a computer fan for cooling (fan is linear and sucks air through the boat from the front hatches and blows it out through the rear hatches) There are also seperate 3 and 4 cell AA NmH packs for nav and interior lighting.
Boat runs 28mm 3 blade props and runs at a realistic scale speed and attitude. Radio gear is 2.4 and I have modified one TX for twin throttles and at present am running both these boats simultaniously on the one TX.
Have bought twin car ESCs, batts, RXs and BECs for the PT and the (36") British Power Boat 64ft HSL I am building (modelled on the RNZAFs 64ft HSL- the only one sold in the southern hemisphere - in 1940) Went on board as a teenager before she was ruined by being turned into a pleasure launch so it was a help with the building. Still remember the wonderful alloy 'Power Boat' stair treads down to the ward room. Will get some pics up of the HSL as well.
Aerokit Fireboat 34"
Boat was given to me in poor condition approx 30 years ago, no running gear and most fittings missing or broken, originally powered with IC motor.
I have installed a 43A 700KV Outrunner Brushless motor, Model No : XYH42-50 and a Hobbywing Seaking 60W / Reverse Program Brushless ESC bought from Giantcod, powered by a 3 cell 2200 mAh Lipo battery runtime 15 to 18min, the prop is a 42.5mm 2 blade racing prop. I am well pleased with the performance of the boat.

Here is my Aerokits Sea Urchin on its first outing in July 2010 at Fleetwood. Running on a 7.2v Lipo on a small outrunner motor costing less the £5.00 from Giantcod.co.uk.
I have rebuilt this from a damaged ex IC model. Borrowed a plan from a club member and managed to reconstruct the missing bits. Originally used a fast electric car type brush motor with 7.2 v nicads. Worked ok but nothing spectacular. Recently ventured into brushless and LiPo. Tried an inrunner but ran far to hot and not veryt fast. Changed to an Outrunner (mork torky apparently) and nearly took off! (it is a seaplane tender but should stay on the water!) The LiPo is 11.1v 2800MaH. I use a Graupner Ultramat 16 charger, don't use other than a dedicated LiPo charger and ESC. Battery misuse can result in pyrotechnics, so beware. initialyy tried a two blade racing prop but have changed this to a 29mm 3 blade brass prop to slow down the speed. I have also added more lead and will advise the final weight once I have tried the model on water. I sail with Crewe and District MBC at Boundary Park, Nr Knutsford in Cheshire.
