    Well Doug,
That is a thought. Must think about the practicality of such an installation on a finished superstructure. Fortunately there is plenty of room.
In fairness though, every photo I can recall seeing of the class shows a clear exhaust.
Also, never thought Davey Paxman diesels were heavy smokers!

"I have videos but the file type is not supported... (MP4)"
MP4 is supported if it's not to large BW,
It may appear as an 'Invalid File' but will still work.
It will be renamed an .mpg4 file but still work on a WIN 10 PC and Media Player.
What happens when you try to upload it?
Very nice looking boat BTW๐Ÿ‘ I see she has had a baby๐Ÿ˜‰
Trailer looks interesting too. Can we have a closer look please.

I finally managed to get out and do a video of SY Minnow. This was taken at Cheddar Steam Club and Jane and I were the only people there so had the water to ourselves. I have increased the displacement a little which has made her more stable in the wind. Although it doesn't look it, there was quite a breeze that day and you can see the boat heeling to the wind on occasions. I was very pleased with the mist unit as this was the first time I have seen it operate properly. I will do something about the masts being out of alignment!

    Thanks Tony,

It was good to get up to Cheddar and have a peaceful sail and capture the day on video. I've had this old Bugsier for a few years now and finally got it the way I want it. I dug out an old copy of MB from 1976 and noticed Bugsier was being advertised then, I don't know when Graupner introduced it, it would be interesting to know.
Anyway, thanks for the interest and all the best,

    Ian

    Thanks Nerys,

I wrote a response earlier but I don't know where it went!

I was very pleased with Minnow and to put your mind at rest, no danger of pollution. The mist unit uses plain tap water and what comes out of the funnel is water vapour. I'm so pleased with it that I have ordered one for another boat in my collection.

    All the best,

    Ian

Nice to see a steam yacht, a relic of yachting days of old, she does look good on the water and just the right amount of smoke coming out of the funnel, not enough for anyone to complain about pollution.
Well done, she's a credit to you.

    Thanks Doug,

I ran her at full speed for a bit just to show what she can do but normally like to be a bit more sedate.
Adding my own music to videos is a good way for me to combine my hobbies and Jane encourages the end credit. It's very flattering to be confused with John Renbourn but he was definitely in a different league- wonderful guitarist.

While I'm at it I have put up this video of my tug. I had been having problems with this and I completely replaced everything inside. Turns out the rudder servo was dodgy and the motor, a geared 500 was far too poky. It now performs beautifully and very quietly. Obviously it's an old Graupner Bugsier but refurbished by me to look a bit more like a British tug. The motor is a low noise 500 with direct drive mounted on a rubber sheet - the only noise is a whine from the esc.

Graham Royle joined the Model Boat Website last summer, returning to modelling after a 45 year break. It was a display at Buxton Model Boat Club last year where he spoke with one of the members that got him started again.

Graham who is now a member of the Buxton Model Boat Club started his latest project "Bionic Bill", only 3 months ago at the beginning of lockdown.

What resulted is truly magnificent working model example of engineering, woodworking, electronics, perseverance and total dedication ! .

    Well done Graham !.

A bit windier this time (10-15 mph) but it's not built to sit on a shelf, so having made a few adjustments I thought I'd risk it. It tried playing submarine a few times after a spin but handled the wind ok till trying to get back, - tried to weathervane back out, so ended up power on beaching. Lots of fun in the sun, -still more adjusting to do, ie get it steering straight by itself and limit the drifting slightly.

Shouldn't be too much trouble Martin it if do it like the flash job. Looks like an accessory option that goes on as a unit.? I can get some thin alloy sheet at the hardware I think which might do, or even plastic sheet eg ABS or similar.

Hi Martin, it's all about having fun,๐Ÿ˜Š and I find that if I build something and don't use it, it will fade into oblivion on the shelf. It's nice just to have something which doesn't have delicate fittings to break off, every time you take it out, for a change. I like the scale boats, but having to spend 10 mins each end plugging things in, lifelines to hook up, hatches to fit etc, can be a pain if you are not in the mood๐Ÿ˜
Got a bit close there at one stage๐Ÿ˜‚.

Your Speedline model barge looks very good in the water and looks as if she is sailing extremely well. I've always thought that this design was a bit small to carry three headsails, but looking at yours, I think I must revise my opinion. Would like to see her competing in the AMBO class for 30" barges. She would qualify despite being shorter.

    Cheers, Nerys
