I bought a set of these from Lidl UK at ยฃ5.99 and to be honest, cheap rubbish.
The tips don't go together on many of them so difficult to hold small items. You have to bend them with pliers to get them to grip etc

๐ Brushed motors vs Brushless

Not sure about this but from experience it all depends on load and drivetrain inefficiency. Brushless tend to have more torque generally compared to brushed i.e. they will spin a prop at similar speeds but more efficiently they are also lighter in weight overall. You can power any motor with any battery it's just you need specific speed controller.

Hi All
Warminster Model Boat Club have an open day planned for 9th June 2019. All are welcome assuming you have your own TP insurance. We probably have the best lake and facilities for sailing any boats (apart from IC as they are not allowed to be run on the lake) in the South West area. We are also holding Club 500 racing as well as Yacht racing (mainly Dragonforce 65) during the day

Hi All
Just a quick add to your diaries, Warminster Model Boat Club has an open day on the 10th September 2017 from 10.00am to 4.00pm. It coincides with the local Carnival fundraising event at the park. We have wonderful facilities and all who have visited in the past have enjoyed themselves. To sail you must have 3rd Party insurance. A full map is available on our site. Please note that parking will be restricted on that date, however, there is plenty of free parking on the surrounding streets or in Morrisons supermarket opposite the park for 3 hours

HI I am hoping someone can help here, I need a copy of a plan that was issued with Model Shipwright Magazine number 140 of the MV Gorgon back in 2007. The plan was drawn by Jim Pottinger. I have already bought several copies of this magazine and unfortunately none have contained the free pull out plan. The magazine is no longer in print so cant approach publishers. Of course happy to cover your costs to either copy plan or for the original. Can any of you help please

Hi, parking by the lake is for disabled people only as per first post. However you are quite welcome to drop off your gear by lakeside and park. OK to get to the lake, the park entrance is directly opposite a building call Regal House (private retirement home) on Weymouth Street (A350) A large Morrison's supermarket is next to Regal House which you could park in or there is plenty of free parking in Weymouth Street. The walk from Morrison's or Weymouth Street to lakeside is approx 200 yards. if you are a blue badge holder drive down entrance to park and on right you will see tennis courts on right hand side, parking is by the tennis courts. Approx 25 metres walk to lakeside. if you can't manage we can get post removed in road so you can drive right up to lakeside. in general we sail by boathouse there is generally someone there who will look after your gear while you park up. There are other roads surrounding park all of which generally have free parking on as residential streets look on Google maps. The nearest postcode is BA12 9NT which is Morrison's

๐ wanted 40ghz receiver futaba

I did see a post somewhere re the 40Mhz/35Mhz from someone who worked at Futaba. I have tried it and never had any bother to be honest range wise.
Another reason for going to 2.4Ghz is less interference from other users or electrical noise from the motor or speed controller.
You can pick up Planet RC systems from Ebay or Howes Models sometimes a little lower than Cornwall model Boats. That said though the customer service at Cornwall MB is excellent. Personally I would go with a more known manufacturer such as Futaba, Spektrum, JR, Graupner etc if you feel you will get the bug and continue with modelling

Don't bother, just look for a 35mhz but put a 40mhz crystal in it. The receivers are exactly the same just with different badges on them, it is the crystal that
Is different. Plenty 35mhz on ebay. However you can pick up a 2.4ghz set so cheaply nowadays it will probably cost you more to buy a receiver and crystals than it will to buy than a complete 2.4ghz set without servos or batteries

๐ Open event?

HI Max
I think you maybe missing the point I am trying to make. The event I put up was for 30th August, and going into events allows me to edit the text in original post. Which I have done. However there seems to be no way of editing the date to change it other than creating a new event. Obviously we don't want to leave up the event for the 30th August and there seems to be no way of taking down (or cancelling) the old event either. Maybe I am missing something here?
Thanks
Andy

HI
Just trying to see If there would be any Interest In a open day In Warminster In Wiltshire? Which we can arrange on a Sunday with prior notice. We have Initially pencilled In the 6th September but have to know names and numbers first.
Warminster Model Boat club have been established for many years, however the membership has dwindled somewhat so we are looking for new members! Of course any visitors would be given a warm welcome. We are not allowed IC models but everything else Is generally acceptable. We have to be sensible about fast electrics as there are a lot of ducks, geese and wildlife etc. at this time of the year. We offer free Insurance to members.
So Is there any Interest firstly?
What date/s would work well for the majority?
At present we sail every second Thursday of the month from 5.30pm onwards, however we are proposing to change this to every other Sunday morning and visitors are always welcome to join us without prior booking. There Is plenty of free parking very locally and anyone that needs It (infirm or disabled) we can offer parking right next to the lake. There are plenty of facilities at the lake with on site catering, clean toilets and shelter should the weather turn.

HI Sandy, I used to have Futaba FF7 transmitter and regularly used Hitec receivers both single and dual conversion and they all worked as long as you got correct crystals. However as I said before I did experience the occasional glitch , and I am not talking interference (even using same make transmitter and recover as well as mixed) here which was disconcerting, and why I am now using 2.4ghz. Glad you sorted problem though.

HI Sandy
Thought I might mention that also 35Mhz receivers which are much more readily available are both 35mhz and 40mhz ready but you have to use the correct crystals I.e. 35mhz crystals (for use in aircraft only) and just use the 40mhz crystals (for land or water use only). The only difference in receivers is the label. Like Dave says above if it was me I wouldn't bother with either and go down 2.4ghz route, full sets available for as little as ยฃ35.00 and you never have to wait for a frequency and frustrations when crystals don't work etc . I use 2.4ghz on both aircraft and boats never had any interference problems either that you can experience on 27mhz and 40mhz
