Hi Steve,saw a picture of it and thought it would make an interesting model. Roger Thayne made one in 94 but don't know how to find him? he made the sand heron.i have made a bucket dredge that works well,i can dig sand and dump it

Built plank on frame and then glassed on outside and resin on inside. it is based on the time it was charted to Australia to take supplys to Antarctic stations. it is electric drive on 2/5 to 1 reduction . it is built on 1/48 scale

Does anyone have a copy of the photos of the MAGGA DAN
taken by Vic Smeed back in the 1950. some are in the 1957

Mawhera is a bucket dredger buil by willim simons and company
in the Renfrew yard for New Zealand in 1908.
The model is 1.5mtr long and is fully working by radio control.

It wieghs rougly 44 kg. or 97lb.
No i havnt found anything to tow but held onto it once and it has a lot of power.

Hi.
It only takes one to launch. the funel wheelhouse comes of in one piece and then it takes 5 pieces of lead 130x75x20 after you have put it in the water.then 1 of 12v batery 170x160x130. then two 6 volt baterys and a cast iron burner that burns coal for the smoke.
the motor is a fan heater motor from a truck and turns a 130mm 4blade prop. would love to put it on steam one day.
