Good morning this is a plea for help.
According to my original post HMS Collingwood Museum have managed to get the HMS Sheffield in good working order but they are having difficulties with the HMS Invincible.
Unfortunately the guy working on it had to retire through ill health so they are struggling to get it working.
I have been in touch with a local club Portsmouth & District Model Power Boat to ask for help but have drawn a blank.
I just wondered if there are any members out there local to the Museum would be able to help out there seems to be an issue with the workings of the Radio Control Gear etc.

Hi Dave976 thank you for your reply have been in touch with Volantex & found out the winch etc is all factory set also ordered a couple of spare reels of twine just in case I think I am almost there but its a bit fiddly 👍

Hi Model Boaters I am a newbie to RC Model Yachts so I purchased a pre made kit from eBay.
I have encountered issues with the re threading of my sail winch servo
after it got into a right mess is there anybody who could offer me any useful advice " Yes shouldn`t have bothered stick to electric RC boats"

Hi Fred thank you for the info the hull is made from fibre glass by the looks of the interior & the deck is made in 3 sections of strong plastic will check out the AMS forum later 👍

Hi Toradog,
I am aiming to just keep it surface running its 160cm long not sure of scale 1:72? Sealing the sub will not be an issue I have also removed all the decking now & can inspect the prop shafts etc they are not seized up & run freely could I get away with using the originals & maybe regrease or lubricate the shafts & fit new brass props? They are both sealed in the normal way.

Morning fellow RC members this is my latest project & I am looking for some advice & guidance it was given to me from my late brother in law & it needs a lot of TLC!!
It didn`t submerge just operated on the surface.
Stripped it all down & cleaned it to start with also have found a useful website

Hi Newby7 at least 30 years ago this boat was given to me by my late brother in law Terry it was a Billings Kit still in the box built in our spare bedroom remembering all the plank on timbers that formed the hull. Photos show "her" sailing happily @ Portishead Lake in Bristol I say happily till a strong gust of wind caught it & almost flipped it over it then took on a lot of water & sank as you see in the photo luckily it managed to stay partly submerged & it was rescued by some young guys in a Swan boat that they hire out on the lake. It has now been completely gutted & all the electrics replaced it lives to tell another tale 😎👍

Hi Camyaj do you live nearby & sail boats in the lake?
Its absolutely beautiful in the Summer I used to go there with my brother in law also Woodspring club use it regularly for RC yachts etc 😎

Further to a post made several months ago pre Corona Virus some good news was received from HMS Collingwood Museum re HMS Sheffield & HMS Invincible radio controlled boats donated by my late brother in law please click on the attached link
We are now waiting to pay them a visit if & when this situation changes to see both the Boats in action & have got video camera at the ready to take some really memorable footage especially where the Invincible is concerned as its never been in the water 👍👍😎😎

I am a newbie & I am after some helpful information from any members.
My brother in law passed away recently & was an avid builder of R/C boats & a perfectionist.
He has a big collection of various boats, sizes, etc.
We would like to sale them but we are not sure how to go about it.
We have approached the local auctioneers but they want a fairly hefty part of the sale price.
We have also looked at ebay but not to sure about that.
We have also been in touch with Howes models but they offered a measly sum of £500 for the lot!!
Any information would be most grateful.

That was over 8 months ago & I am pleased to tell you that I managed to sell them all through ebay raising at least a £1000 for his wife.
I met some of the nicest like minded people all fellow radio controlled model boat enthusiasts throughout that time.
The "icing on the cake" for me was the donation of a 7ft scale model of the Invincible & a smaller scale model of the HMS Sheffield to a Royal Navy Museum in HMS Collingwood and they are going to arrange for the Invincible to be launched on water for the first time later this year which I will be really looking forward to.👍👍😎😎
