π Receiver aerial length

Iβve had model cars and motor bikes on 27Mhz with aerial lengths of 8 to 10 inches usually fed through a plastic tube to hold it vertical outside the vehicle.
It would be worth connecting it up to a servo and doing a range check

That is bad news but unfortunately happening all over. Perhaps if we didnβt buy so much on line and visited the shops more it might help. Part of the problem is that the shops are now few and far between.

Hi it is correct that Spektrum uk shut down, but a company called Logic Rc took up the mantle and offer a superb service at very competitive prices. Once when digital trims got wet and failed repaired f o c.on other gimbal replaced due to worn potr. They examined it contacted me with solution and price and returned in just over a week. Great service

π Thoughts on Spektrum RC units

Spektrum is more expensive, but the quality is good, it feels good in your hands. Stick position and movement is really good. Programming is easy, manual is easy to read, trims are much finer end point adjustment is more accurate as up to 150% this is the same servo movement as a fly sky at 120%.
Functions are easy to use. Iβve used it for 13 years for flying yachts and power boats. Personal choice suggest going to club and see if you can hold Fly sky Spektrum etc. and see which you prefer, and fits your budget.
Recommend a computer set to make use of functions such as expo, dual rates, end point adjustments and sub trims to centre servo arms,

She look really good. If she was mine I would try the following idea. Lower the jib boom closer to the deck, add a bit more camber into the sails and open the slot up between the jib and the main and the jib when the sails are pulled in.
Just my thoughts enjoy sailing her

π In for a Dip

No, I think you missed the prefix un off that word. Itβs quite difficult when you are racing the first leg is easiest as everyone is walking to keep with the boat in the same direction after the first mark life gets interesting as the people in front are now walking back towards you. Walking, avoiding other people and sailing your boat multi tasking, but itβs fun.

Iβve been there too.
I was racing RC Laser at Gosport
So intent on watching the boat I stepped over the edge on a slight curve. The good news was I kept the radio dry and got out before anyone got a camera out. Still wet at the end of the day, so now I take a dare. Set of clothes and a spare boat.

I agree either Colin a servo tester is a really good investment. I always check mine before fitting saves a lot of bother it also helps as you can set the Center point without having to connect all the radio gear

π Building Yachts - Servo or Winch For The Sails
4 months ago by
π¬π§ RogerA1 (

Master Seaman)
Flag
Work out how much line you need to let out the main sail from close hauled. (Sail pulled in to back corner) to approx 85 degrees to the center line. If you nan achieve this distance with a servo and an extended arm without fouling anything in the hull ok to use servo.with enough torque to hold the sail. If not use a winch with a suitable diameter drum and number of turns. A winch has more pulling force,You will also have to arrange some form of tensioning system either elastic of spring.

π Building My First Sail Boat or Yacht

If you want to learn to sail I would recommend a joysway DragonForce 65, you only have to rig it and fit a receiver. It has all the adjustments you need to make it sail really well. Most clubs will have members who sail them already and can help you set it up. Learn to sail then build your own yacht and incorporate the features you want.
