I bought this plan as a spotty 15 year old many years ago as an aspirational build. Like many, lack of money and knowledge and the impact of hormones kicked in and it was never started.
I came across the plan on a well known auction site a couple of weeks ago and it is now on my next to build list. Really interested how you get on and look forward to your build updates

Sorry not totally model boat related but I was at school in the late sixties in Manchester and after a series of sponsored walks the school bought the railway station in the basin as an outdoor pursuit centre. Many, many memories
Would love to visit the club now 50 odd years later with one of my many (some would say too many) models

Good choice on the model, the pilot was one of my first and still favourite boats. Working through the Slec range, huntsman, fireboat etc is almost a right of passage!
There are lot of talented modellers here so feel free to shout!

Great topic indeed. As a recent returnee to the hobby I am still trying many approaches to painting. Whilst getting good quality results with car type acrylics (Halfords for those in the UK) and clear topcoats I do struggle to know what to do with the inevitable "touch ups" needed or small parts than can only be brushed. How do others handle that? Any top tips?
Most recently I have been using humbrol acrylic spray cans and matched humbrol products for hand paining and touch up. Again getting a true colour match between the tow is a challenge.

I am a novice here and you may already be aware but there are a reasonable number on various print sites such as CGTrader that can be 3d printed and pretty reasonable costs.

The original armourment was a single bow mounted 40 mm Bofors gun and a twin 20 mm Oerlikon cannon aft. These along with 4 deck mounted torpedos.
There is a lot of deck detail in the Slec kit with lockers mounts etc..
