As mom always said…. “ a cluttered desk is a sign of a busy mind. My desk was usually cleared. ( just saying )
I always like to see other people’s work spaces. A good source for my own set up.

Well......it's not quite as tidy as that at the moment, those pics are a few weeks old.
I do still keep it reasonably clean and tidy, and mostly put tools back from whence they came before the bench gets too cluttered😇.
Shame I don't have any pics of my electronics workbench from when I was working....now that was disgraceful 😝....but I knew where everything was!

Where do you build your models?

I think I might have posted these pictures of my workshop before.

I have an 'integral garage' in my new house that I have converted into a workshop so it's warm in winter ❄️😁 and remarkably cool in summer☀️😎.
For entertainment I have a mini HiFi system for FM, DAB, CD and MP3 playback and also an internet radio unit on which I can find almost any genre of music and, more importantly, my favourite old time British radio comedy programmes 🤣.

Hi Peterbro, I could strip down and build up again a Bren gun when I was 14 years old. By the time the Queen asked me to come and work for her I was rather a good shot with it as well. (I did do competition rifle shooting as well). So much so that my first time at the Butts the W/O there tore up my card in disbelief. A few days later he put me in the Station rifle shooting team, so vinidcation was at hand.

Where do you build your models?

I’m ok with the boat sitting next to me while I work.
A kitchen full of snacks within walking distance would be my downfall!

@Ronald I think claiming to be a veteran would be a stretch for me.
I was just an instructor in the Air Training Corps for several years - similar to your Canadian Air Cadets.

Although I did get a real Queens Commission in the RAF Volunteer Reserve Training branch, it isn’t quite the same thing as doing it for real.
The most danger I was exposed to was teaching teenagers to handle service rifles and LMGs, which isn’t that dangerous at all in reality.

True Dave. However, I have most of my hobby stuff close together. I have a large technician's bench from where I used to work, plenty of shelving, cabinets, desk, two computers and a bunch of printers. ...or at least it will be when I am done moving back in as I am working on tonight. Down the hall from my kitchen where the beverages and snacks are available. For the dirty stuff I use my garage with the heavier tools, also near the kitchen.

Despite the distraction with the PC, it is also handy when building model that require 3D printing, all close together. Photo was taken two minutes ago, you can see this message on the PC's screen.

Where do you build your models?

Having my model boat project so close to where I am supposed to be working would be dangerous.
Granted, I'm retired, but even so ... the distraction so close to my computer would certainly lead to diminished output from what I'm supposed to be doing ......
So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Where do you build your models?

I’m a bit late to the party, but I have a desk in my office at home that I am using to build my latest (first) project. The other desk with the monitors is where I work from home, complete with aircraft prints on the walls and a blanket for my cat to curl up on.
It’s a bit of a mess as usual.

Ron,
Lew's comment is a response to the "tongue in cheek" comment (#51 in this thread), about the Swiss needing a gun license for a rolling pin.

Lew, what have I missed here? Having read through the various posts, I read nothing regarding the use of firearms or licenses.

I don’t see where the comment about Free State or Non Free State came into the conversation either.

What I did see is people saying words of encouragement and compliments of your work and resilience after the hurricane ripped through your home.

Hope you get it sorted out before hurricane season begins and that you are not hit again.

What is a gun license? I live in the free state of Florida. However, we can not have a model boat firing a blank cartridge on the pond in the park. Both are OK with me. I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel concerning my home rebuilding. Just had hurricane windows installed. Today I will try to get more furniture back in my model workroom.

Hello JumpUgly and Lew!
Stop, you're talking about weapons! Here in Switzerland even the rolling pin needs a gun licence! What poor men we would be . . .
Here's a joke:
The other day, late in the evening, my wife was waiting outside the front door with a broom in her hand.
I never ask her again whether she wants to clean the flat or fly away . . .
Never again!!!

Lew! I am so jealous! But, yes I am a huge NYC fan from way back. There's a consolidation yard in Croton Harmon and a couple of old F-Units with the lightning stripes were tucked away in back, one was an Alco and one was a EMD. The one I have is the Aristo-Craft G-Scale Alco. Would love a USA or LGB EMD F-Unit, but they cost big $$$.

I still agree with what we used to say at work.
"A tidy desk is the sign of a sick mind"😁😁😁😁😁

Another desk sign that came to mind was one on the desk of one of our not so young, young ladies. "Sexual harrassment, apply here"

"A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part"

Anyone got any more?

What a beautiful, well laid out shop. With a lot of quality machines.
THAT is one space to be envious of.
With a lot of luck, some day I hope to have my space as nice as yours.

Hi Len1 I agree. I made a dreadful mistake a couple of years ago and decided to have a tidy up before going on a 5 week family holiday visit. It got extended to 2 months but when I returned I had no idea where I had put things and still have'nt found some items.

Thanks to all that replied. The reason that I have not taken any pictures is that it would mean that I would have to straighten up the shop and put things away. But if i do that i probably would not remember were I put them, that's the problem with a 83 year old brain😂
Dave B, sorry the Ford is a family possession and will be pasted on to the motor head grandsons. I hope that they don't kill it🤞
Anyone is welcome to visit ( Long Island, NY)
