End of the Moderators.

I caught this late, and it is troubling. We are most of us on in years, and we do what we do (model boats) because we are all still really kids at heart. I love that, but please enjoy it without the childish behaviour. Respect, integrity and trust should be quite well fully cooked into us by now. Unfortunately there are bad apples and social media seems to bring them to the fore. Martin & Bill volunteered to moderate and did a fine job. Unfortunately, these days you need a moderator to keep the crap from hitting the page. As they say the best skippers are always standing on the shore (and usually are the most vocal).

Thanks for everything Martin. You will be greatly missed. It was a few like minded people that made this site what it is today. Your departure, and that of two others I know of, will be felt in the content and enjoyment.
I know we will talk again so good luck with all that you do.

Dear Stephen. Following the removal of the moderators, I find it difficult to understand why you didn't remove the guilty party from the site when the problem was brought to your attention.
One of the most influential members (Martin555) has now decided to leave because of this, I believe that he should get a full public apology from the miscreant and also the site.
Failing this I also will be leaving as I believe in fair treatment of all the members.

Ladies and Gentlemen.
Regrettably I advise you that Martin 555 has at his own request left the site for good.
This is for the reasons that are I feel quite obvious over the last few weeks.
It is a great loss to each and everyone of us who have enjoyed and learnt from his knowledge,expertise and sense of humour.
His decision to go is a direct result of one individual and the problems he has caused.
I will now be reconsidering my desire to stay here as well.
I trust this post is not removed or edited as I do not feel it is contentious in any way.
Thank you again Martin for all you have done.

From my recent experience there is not enough traffic to need SIX moderators but these two are the shop front and I feel you have made a poor decision.

Stephen, with the greatest of respect for yourself and this website, I believe you have committed a great error of judgement in informing Martin and Bill that their services as Moderators are no longer required. They are without doubt the voices of reason and common sense, as well as being the welcoming committee for new members. Considering the time and effort they have put into this website that is a poor reward for their services. If a tree has a rotten branch then remove it and don't chop the tree down. I want to see justice for Bill and Martin and hope they will consider being reinstated with an apology from yourself. I have made a yearly contribution to this website for some years now, and want to see justice done. Regards, Gary.

What a cuffufle.

For twelve years we didn't have any moderators on the site.

We may have moderators again, it's still a trial. For a period of time I want to let the site run itself, like it did in the past, unmoderated.

All posts have a flag button, anyone can flag things they don't think is appropriate. Changes or removals will be done by exception.

Martin & Bill were 2 of 6 mods, all volunteers. It's no reflection on them. Both great members of the community in my eyes and I hope they stick around.

I know I am a relatively a “new boy” in this club and have had a lot of (and hopefully given some) Help.
Suddenly I read that two moderators have been informed there services are no longer required by the website owner and they have informed readers on the forum of the owners decision,
As there are two sides to any dispute could I ask the owner for his side, so I can balance my decisions fairly?

Bill and martin, First allow me to thank you for all of your efforts to date. I wish you both well with whatever you choose to do. Second, it is always sad when someone injects politics into a hobby site. I have seen it done so many times, and while I have attempted to continue to support those sites, I have found that I always become just a spectator.
No none should lose site that these are hobbies. I would miss them, but I do not need them....

I trust you are all well and getting over England’s loss at the Euros.
It is with regret that Martin (Martin555) and I (Scratchbuilder) say goodbye as moderators.
This is because of a decision by the site owner(Fireboat) to exclude the moderators with effect from earlier today.
There is politics involved in this as Martin and I have been trying to ensure that we remain impartial at all levels and stop improper comments from another moderator who has overstepped the mark and upset many members.
I will not mention names here as it would be improper to do so.
