Not all naval ships are gray or even steel.
- Dave MVice AdmiralHi JTodd
Perhaps I should have explained better when I pointed you in that direction.
The intention of the Build Blog is to allow you to post details and Pics as you build so our members can share your experience. it works fine if used in this way and there are plenty of Build Blogs in support of this.
You can easily add to your build blog and give each addition a title relevant to the build, plus any written comments and pics, this then allows others to follow your progress.
Stephen is possibly on holiday but will be able to advise you on his return.
If the weather over your side of the pond is anything like the UK your Constellation has possibly been in the doldrums, our Schooners on my sailing lake certainly have!
I look forward to many more posts showing your models and building skills.
Regards

As small boy, I invested many hours in the basement on Dad's workbench to construct the Revell plastic kit of USS CONSTITUTION. I remember the detail of that model and subsequent plastic & wooden builds, so I can fathom the painstaking effort it involved to create this work of art. Thank you.

The name of the tug is “STATIA RELAINT”.
This is one of a fleet of four vessels built by Samakona Yards in Spain.
I chose this one because of the stealth lines that has throughout the structure or just because I love how it looks.
I am an artist (painter), and we fall in love with colors and shapes, so maybe thats another reason why Im building this particular one.
I was lucky to find the plans and enlarge them to 33” approximately 1/32 scale.
This will be my FIRST scratch built even dough I have built others from kits, but never like the experts I see in this forum.
I will be open for questions, suggestions and criticism.
Thank You
Julian

RNLB Hermione Lady Colwyn, the old Shoreham Lifeboat
- Spitfire99Petty Officer 1st ClassHi
I am in the proses of building this in a 1/12 scale. I live near to the life boat station in Shoreham and see it launched many times
Could I ask where you got the decals from and more so the name of her RNLB Hermione Lady Colwyn. As I will need this for mine
Kev - JRF1972Leading SeamanI got the Decals from Ebay, 25mm vinyl lettering, for the numbers,
I used BECC for the rest, the flag on the bow and the ensigns, although I believe now, they do a specialised RNLI Lettering Pack, and draught marks pack
The name was BECC letters on a strip of grey painted plastic cardLiked by figtree7nts and Donnieboy
- circle43nauticalChief Petty Officer 2nd ClassBRAVO ZULU! AS I TOLD ANOTHER MODELER, THE THRILL OF TRIAL & ERROR AND EXPERIMENTING IN FEAR MAKES THIS HOBBY WORTHWHILE!
- Dave MVice AdmiralHi Ian
It's a racing prop and will use lots of power hence the heat.
As you have a cabin cruiser it does not need such a coarse pitch prop and changing to a prop with a lesser pitch will improve your running time and produce less heat. Performance will depend on the chosen prop but should not be much different from what you already experience.
As you already have a water cooler inlet and outlet you could just wrap some copper tube round the motor and connect with silicon tubing to keep the heat down

She took about a year to construct and is now into the third year of sailing. The boat is based on the period 1929/34 when "Bobby" Somerset owned her, he won the Fastnet race twice and finished second once, infact she is the only boat to win the Fastnet three times. She is based on the river Hamble and is owned by Dauntseys school in Wiltshire and is regularly raced by the pupils there. The model is approximately 1:15 scale.
In 2013 the full size Jolie Brise celebrated the centenary anniversary of her construction by the Paumelle yard in Le Havre in 1913. The world famous, gaff-rigged pilot cutter was the last boat to carry the royal mail under sail and has won the Fastnet Race three times, including the inaugural race in 1925. in 2015 and 2016 she was the overall winner of the Tall Ships Races.
Jolie Brise is owned, maintained and sailed by the pupils of Dauntsey's School. For more information about Jolie Brise go to,

- Dave MVice AdmiralNicely trimmed gaff-rigged cutter showing her paces. Good to see a helmsman in attendance adding to the realismLiked by figtree7nts
