Hi, jelley baby, I hve also rescued a sea commander, and am in the (getting to be) ptocess of restoration. Yours look jolly good, and if mine goes that well, I shall be very pleased. The only problem after reading other reprts, is that mine, being a very old build, weighs in at five and a half pounds when empty. How this will affect the speed remains to seen. The theory atbthe moment is for a Speed 600,with a 45x prop on12 volts Ie two sixvolts in the stern.
    when's the video?

Large scale tugs at Bluewater
The four tugs in this clip are all 1/24th scale and are scratch built, they are the Ionia, The contest, the cervia and The Atlantic Cock, in their real form they were all River Thames Tugs.all of the models were built within the last 11 years and are all still going strong. Unfortunately all of the real tugs are all scrapped now except for the Cervia , she is now preserved in Ramsgate Harbour Kent.

Now I know who's nicked our good weather! 😀 could do with some of that sunshine in the UK, the Ice has only just thawed off our ponds and lakes here!

Great to hear of the turnout 😊

    HI Stephen
thanks for the reply, yes we are very fortunate with fantastic weather here and it was a great day for our first launch we even had the press there. I was over there a few years back at Christmas time and it snowed heavily and I feel for you all when you have your winters.

Thanks for the great website, I thought it would be nice to let everyone know that we exist in SA and would welcome visitors when they are out here.

Ply parts are router cut, as you see them in the build photos. Only the hull formers are balsa and you cut them out with a craft knife. 3mm balsa. Hull skins are 0.8mm ply and deck and cabin is 1.5mm ply. Gun bits and torpedos are provided as plain dowels so you have to do a little bit of scratch finishing. Comes with a very basic motor about 200 size and a simple tube, prop shaft and prop. For a little boat it has a lot going for it. Didnt glass hull, used ordinary PVA, sanding sealer, spray car high build primer, spray grey primer and gloss.

Very Nice Tugs. I particularly like the Sun Tug. The color scheme is different as well.

    Very Good Work
