    Thanks Garth.
Have just caught up with the last blog update.
Good video, shows the model off and my lack of familiarity with waterjets!

At first I was surprised to see you with boats on open water in Canada.
This week we finally have open water in Central MN, but it was just on the news that there is still 18" of ice on the lakes in northern MN.
THEN, I looked at a map and realized that you are considerably south of me. Basically as far south as the MN Iowa border.
OK, I'm jealous! I want to be able to play on the lake with my toy boats too!

Racing Sparrow - Build Log on youtube
This Racing Sparrow was built by Buxton Model Boat Member Graham Royle.
Detail and precision are Grahams hallmark and it is a privilege for me to showcase some of his work through "RC Sailing" and the Model Boats Website.
(Note best viewed on big screen to allow for pausing !)

Model Boats Website also hosts other blogs of his ie. :-

Great job Graham, looks to be sailing well for a first time out,- shame there was not enough wind to be able to put your foot down 👍👍👍 Another nice vid Phil, (better luck with the next ESC on the 'media boat') Keep them coming.

Record Day at Sonstraal Dam
Here is a look at the boats at Sonstraal Dam, home of the Northern City Model Boat Club, where on 26 February the Annual Record Day hosted by the Western Cape Model Boat Club brought more than 140 boats to the dam.
While some were just floaters, and some sank trying, there was a good collection of models actually in action.
One of them was the 1,5m Steam Tug, Miamota

The video was taken with an iPhone mounted in front of the bridge of the Smit London Tug boat with LOA of 1.7m

The Juliana II - a Hampden plank-on-frame Schooner
This was my very first RC project. In fact, it was only to be a static model, but then things changed.
Currently she's a shelf-queen as the rigging takes a while.
She can be converted to a fishing boat and fitted with a 5 blade 42mm prop and brushed 540 motor.
The sail rudder is larger and requires the prop to be removed.

    Is she wood build Thanks
  • DWBrinkmanRear Admiral
    Griss,
The Marx/Lindberg kits are plastic. The Dumas kits are wood.
Mine is from a Lindberg 814 kit. My guess is that Rudy's has also got Lindberg lineage.

Hello may I put in my 2 pennorth? There should be a nice foamy bow wave to show she means business. You can get this by putting spaced verticle strip fenders at the bow that go into the water and disturb the waterflow to give a 'moustache'. So no increase in speed needed. Hope you do not mind this suggestion.

I have a Plaudit a very similar type of tug. The Port of London Authority had 2 tugs like this, (now sold on) the other called Plashet. Note the PLA in the names. Always a pleasure to run the model.
    regards
    Roy
