On the 20th of October, the Spencer pool will be drained for the winter skating season. I think it's a bit early, but no one listens to me.A couple of us set sail till next spring. The Gumbot Clogaroo ran real nice.

If it wasn't for the 'fixed' people on board you could almost imagine these as full size boats. Just the odd exception with a rather disproportionate bow wave!

Filming over water
Filming over water at low sun angles with reflection and glare, can be frustrating as conditions change, - it then all takes time editing to get a reasonable result . Just for fun I got "Sailor Sam" and wing man Dave to give hand with the filming.

Light up the Night on the September 25th 2025 including safety cautions
Our club will be sailing at Spencer's in the evening with our model boats lit up. I have upgraded my Jimwilder Tug with an LED light from our Dollar Store ( $ 4.50 ) now. Did a few modifications to get it in the tug.Looks pretty good & should be visible.

Hi Jumpugly, thank you so much for your wonderful comment.

I have to confess something: I was worried and sad because your opinion hadn't been posted yet.

Am building an experimental airboat that will ideally be steered by differential thrust. Ignore the seat, we won't be sitting there any time soon 😐 but whenever it gets on water I'll post video at www.teledrone.com

Canadian Coast guard 44 Lifeboat
I'm not sure if I posted a little run at Spencer's pool of my 44 lifeboat . Our lifeboats had to have a closed cabin, and therefore ours were not like the American open cockpit style due to our inclement weather or maybe we were smarter than the Americans and kept our crews warm year-round.😀

As of a few recent Spencers events someone said clockwise pattern. Near the end of the event last weekend a few gents wanted to run faster-electrics so everybody pulled their warships out.

War ship regatta
On the weekend Confederation Marine Modellers held a warship regatta at the Burlington pool at Spencer's.I use my IPhone to video & it's a technique I can't seem to master.

When are they going to introduce a standard route of travel at Spencer’s?

Club Event
I'm a little late posting this photo but on Aug.21 the Confederation Marine Modelers had a event at 9AM at Spencer's pool for working boats so my Fireboat Edward M. Cotter had a sail for the first time in 2025 It's the red Fire boat. Just thought I'd add a real photo of the Buffalo N.Y. fireboat that visits Port Colborne, Ontario Every Aug. first weekend. There was more working boats but to take a photo with a I Phone 8 and sail a model is kind of difficult.

Thanks for sharing this story and I see they haven’t changed at Spencer’s. There are no policies on shipping lanes or the direction of travel.

This was the Festival of Lights last year.

Looks to me like one of the nicest ponds for model boating. Visibility like a swimming pool. Would make it great to spot a sunken vessel. Likely a good training ground for novice submariners!
