Boat based on Chris Craft, Stamas, and Bertram 1970s sport fisherman boats.

Some of my boats during a last weekend outing. Boats are at My Harbour. The blue boat (Fishfully Thinking") is based upon American-made Chris Craft 30 Tournament Fisherman, Stamas 32 sedan, and Bertram 28 boats. The yellow boat ("Cheapskate") is partially based upon a Bertram 31 sedan. The white vessel ("Juyilanga") was inspired on now defunct company's Uniflite 28-footer "Salty Dog" sport fisherman. Last but not least, the pink boat ("Pinkey Pie") belongs to my daughter and was built using an old Graupner kit inspired on a Chris Craft Roamer of the mid 60s. 😁

Cheers Doug 😎 - KrampusWarrant OfficerHello Doug! Actually, not in Juyilanga but in Fishfull Thinking. I took a line here and there from our plan for the superstructure. I utilized ABS plastic instead of wood. No need to mess with fiberglassing and no cracking on the Alpine cold waters. Notice that I used the same type of hull on these two boats. Happens that Fishfull Thinking was originally another boat I had, but not happy with the superstructure, I rebuilt the whole thing but kept its fiberglass hull almost intact. Greetings from Germany! I've been out of the net for a while and rebuilding this boat with a totally new superstructure, paint job and electronics. I obtained the fiberglass hull measuring 24.5 X 9 inches from a California fellow via E-bay. Formerly a 45-footer Chris Craft at 1:24 scale, this updated vessel was inspired on a 1970s 30-footer Chris Craft Tournament Fisherman and on 1970s 28 and 33-footer Bertram boats. 😁 The Chris Craft in the attached picture from an early days brochure was the very only Chris Craft utilizing a Deep-Vee hull. The story goes that they apparently copied their boat following the lines of a Bertram 28 based on famed boat designer Ray Hunt. Bertram sued in court and Chris Craft ended up building less than 200 boats of this type. After all, the Chris Craft vessel ended up being better than the Bertram in terms of cabin space and overall value. Highly cherished within the American sports fishing community, many of these boats are still up and running.

So, here's my current project in the works. I got a nice 25-inches Deep-Vee fiberglass hull a while ago and now (finally) have a concept for it. Almost by accident I came across a plan for an American bass boat which in turn reminded me of a boat that caught my attention when I was a kid while reading a boating magazine. The boat is a 28-footer from a now defunct firm named Uniflite. it was a small deep-sea sports fisherman called "Salty Dog". Uniflite was very well known within the American boating circles during the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Uniflite created and supplied PBR river patrol craft to the US Navy between 1965 and 1972 for rivers in Vietnam using an already existing pleasure boat hull and adapting jet nozzles for propulsion. So, I just created a prototype template of the cabin so more to follow 😎.
