New lease of life
Vintage โsea queenโ
I bought from the local boat club with the intention of bringing it up to date with oak tops and zebra wood decking, changed the handrails to mahogany, after a repaint and new windows she is quite presentable and fit for the lake when I fit a new Rx and esc.

My first model "PRIDE OF FIFE"
Built her a few years ago after buying the hull at a car boot sale.
Great learning curve for my introduction to model boats.

Picked this up via my local club "for sale" notices, in need of a good refit, will go nicely with the one I have just started.

I am building a display model of HMS VICTORY and in anticipation of reaching the rigging stage of the build I ordered a rope serving machine (self build) from China. Is there anyone out there who has one of these who can advise me regarding the stabilisation of the main cogs, I am reluctant to use adhesive at this stage for obvious reasons, also unfortunately the instructions are in Chinese, and contacting the vendor is proving more frustrating than trying to decipher the instructions.๐

Thanks Rick, I have done that very thing for my 53โ HMS MAGNIFICENT, total cost approx ยฃ100, the majority being the plexiglass front. If I canโt find a competing commercial supplier I shall have to consider the same again. I feel the sailing ships really do need the light from all sides in order to appreciate their true beauty though.

Having moved on to building static display sailing ships (due in the main because of my mobility problems), I have reached the stage of having to consider how to preserve my builds. I have had a local company build a couple of plexiglass cases for me, however, they are VERY expensive. My question is, does anyone know of any business that sell display cases in kit form?

Does anyone know where I can obtain boat name decals or transfers made to order, they are for a vintage โles Rowellโ sea queen that I am currently restoring and updating. โBy โvintageโ I mean, the motor is the size and weight of a cobblers last and the receiver operates via a glass valve.๐

๐ Spray Paining problem....

Looks like too much paint too soon. You MUST let earlier coats dry right through before applying the next coat. Remember more THIN coats for better results.
You will need to sand back to a smooth surface before spraying again.
Hope this helps

Ah! Great minds think alike. I have acquired several abandoned projects by advertising, and have a few kits I purchased new for my retirement, having completed a few I am currently having a time-out and doing a canvas painting of a ww11 spitfire but will soon be back in the saddle and on with the build of the AZIZ tug I started a while back. Do any of you guys suffer with the curse of mentally planning your build in the middle of the night?โต
Good luck in YOUR retirement

Holy-moly! that's great work. Iv'e recently had my first go at a plank on frame, a clinker built "Nantucket" whaleboat, I got it completed, including harpoons, lances, oars etc. but never did make and fit the the knees as we were packing to move home. Thanks to your post, I am now inspired to return to the build and finish it properly ๐
