Now Utoob offers me HD up to 1080p. Vid works lighter too. Now even on the distant shots I can see that 'something' is being towed. Shots near the jetty show Babs quite well now. Why do you have to shoot in the old (1992😮), closed, Microsoft AVI format? Conversions of AVI are almost always dodgy I've found. My cameras use the H264 or 265 codecs and produce MPEG (MP4) files directly. Never mind, we got there in the end😊 Cheers, Doug 😎 ▲

Had a little trouble getting my sound to work properly but with a little fiddling got it working a lot better had to reverse motor leads & switch transmitter forward -reverse switch so it would work in forward direction .

Re the turns. The launch has a custom mixer built in to reduce the throttle on turns. The sharper the turn, the more the reduction. I didn’t want it rolling over attempting to turn flat out.😉 Grandad Graham93 ▲

Tonight was our club's annual swap meet. I scored some parts and pieces. Missed a kit I wanted and ended up being given this boat (which fits right in with my collection of "misfit toys"). It hasn't seen water in years and needs some TLC. The person who gave it to me knew nothing about it. Does anyone on here recognize it? I'm sure it was a kit from somewhere. I'd love to find some info, so I know what it "should" look like.

As I am working on the boat, I have discovered that it is indeed a wood hulled boat. Making it what I believe to be a Midwest 986 kit built boat. When it was given to me, I was told "the hull leaks". Over the years, somebody had filled it with that spray foam insulation stuff. So the first thing I had to do was remove all that icky stuff so I could see the inside of the hull. At that point, I discovered that there have been numerous attempts at sealing the "leak". There are layers of a rubbery sealant of some type, multiple different hard setting epoxies or something. I am now down to wood in all the place where I suspect the leaks are. I' will keep posting as I go forward.

Ron, yes it appears to be plastic. Somewhere along the line somebody put what seems to be spray foam insulation in the hull, so it is hard to see the hull from the inside.

Harry uses a helper to launch the paraglider once the skimmer approaches sufficient speed. This was the first time a successful flight was achieved and the weather was just right with little or no wind. The drag from the paraglider is high and Harry intends to put a larger motor to increase the power. Whilst the wind a water level was low research indicates that the wind strength is strongest at about 6 - 10ft above water and that is where the paraglider is flying. Dave ▲

Our pond is part of a city park, a very nice setting! The long skinny one is the one in my videos. It is used by scale boats, and general sailing. The larger one below it is recommended for fast electrics. Gas boats are not allowed.

That was his first time out with that boat. It was listed locally on Facebook Marketplace (He beat me to it by mere minutes ... sigh). Since that outing, he has taken some weight out of the boat, it sits higher in the water now. ▲
