RTTL IN SLOW MO
here's a short clip of my RTTL tearing up the lake :-) she has 2 MTroniks 600s driving 30 ml brass props both rotating in the same direction as in the real boats and she has 2 x 4300 mAmp ni-cad batteries in. Lasts for about 15 mins full chat :-)

Fairacre broads cabin cruiser
Saved from a farm rubbish bin and restored. It was originally scratch built from a 60s/70s RCM ? plan. Photos of rebuild are in the harbour. Not sure if it was originally built in the UK and immigrated to NZ as it's an unusual subject for a NZ build. Plans are apparently still available.

I've just found some info on Bates 'Starcraft' cruisers, UK. Looks like the original R/C plan may have been modeled on a version of one of the 'Starcraft' variants.

The farm is a fair way from the sea,- someone was not on watch obviously. Not my car, some guys doing building maint. We can park on that cobbled area you've pictured on the opposite side, (room for about 8-10 cars,-usually chokka when the yachts are racing) There is a nice little jetty built by the Gulf Harbour Model Yacht Club next to it which is great for setting up and launching. It's all part of the big Gulf Harbour Marina development and pond is actually a drainage control pond.
Was full of Koi carp to keep the weed down (carp were rented from a company by the council, but there was some dispute and the company came and removed their carp) probably missed a lot and they breed like flies, so it should come right. Pond's pretty weed free all the same. Pics of the jetty (from the HSL) with some old codger sitting on it, and the real HSL in the Bayswater Marina (Waitemata harbour Auckland), which I have been on board (once recently,-Modded- and once 50yrs ago-original form) Its' story is on the Waitemata Woodys website under W1.
The other pond is at the Onepoto reserve near the city on the waterfront. Bit of a drive (20mins down the motorway all the way) Yachts there as well. The pics with the Marine modellers club - Panmure Basin - East Auckland (the only scale model boat club in Auckland and virtually dead (pics are old), - only about 3 or 4 scale clubs in the country!) we tend to go more for the full scale here. Evening, JB

boston
Well, what a lovely day it is today and here is a pic or two of my Boston which I built several years ago - I had to rebuild her recently that was due to the plasticard I used for the bulwarks had perished and when I picked the model up the plasticard bulwarks cracked and fell apart, so I have rebuilt with wood. Plastic was from the 1980s when I built the model.

    Know what you mean John,
I first built my H Class destroyer in the mid 60s.
    Mostly balsa but some plastic.
When I started refitting her about 32 years ago most of the plastic bits crumbled and fell apart.😭 Binders were all leached out 😮😭
Only plastic stuff that survived were the Airfix 1/72 8th Army and Afrika Corps soldiers I had shanghaied into the Navy!😁
Who still says 'They don't make stuff like they used to'??
I rebuilt the superstructure using 0.5mm marine ply.
Nice rebuild John, keep 'em comin' 👍

Ultimate Enticement
This is a 1984 re-issue of a Lindberg Chris Craft Sport fishermen purchased used on Ebay. Some of the parts where broken and some partially assembled. The model did come with 2 MACK RC motors and some fabricated wood parts, including a template for the aft deck. The interior was assembled from quarter scale doll house items except for the dinette. There are 4 underwater LED bulbs with a dedicated power supply. The running, interior and radar unit are powered by a separate systems from the hull electrics. The second Li-po battery is for backup and balast. There are number of additional items added since these photos were taken including a stern seat and larger radar array .

Yes it's a full width rear seat but without a backrest. I'll post the new photos in the next couple of days.

Hellenic Navy - La Combattante IIIb class Fast Attack Craft
More great photos in this series taken by my friend at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne. These of my P28 - Ensign Simitzopoulos. Great wave patterns. These photos were all poster size in detail. I have had to shrink them to get them posted here. This boat is in my harbour.

The 1/35 scale boat is scratch-built, mainly from Balsawood and marine ply with a fibreglass covering. The guns can elevate and rotate. The radar units both rotate and there are LED navigation lights that I forgot to turn on. There is also a flashing red LED strobe warning system. It needs a little work to get the 4 LEDs a bright brighter.

Boat upgrade - Ongoing proyect
Here's my current project. This is an upgrade of an old model. I retained the hull from a German-made kit from the firm Krick (model "Lisa M") and re-made the upper deck and cabin using 3mm thick ABS plastic to resemble an American type "Down East" type boat. Here is on its sea trial past weekend and during its first light system test.

Z-39 German WW2 Destroyer
My scratch-built 1/72 scale Type 1936A (mob) destroyer, photographed by a good friend at Albert Park lake in Melbourne.
It has rotating turrets linked to the gun directors and rotating torpedo tubes, the front 6" guns elevate and there is also a ship's horn.

Good way of revolving the turret Doug, but I've
taken the easy way by using a servomorph from
    Action electronics😀https://www.componentshop.co.uk/p96-servomorph.html
using a couple on my 1/96 USS Kidd destroyer, will post when finished.

    Hi Rooky,
Bit late getting back to you on this - bin kinda busy🤔
I hear where you're coming from (as our colonial brothers might say. Sorry Ed 😉)
Back then there wern't no Action Electronics / Component Shop so I just did what seemed logical! Worst (and smelly😝) part was making the circuit board.
No PC, CAD or even photo-reactive circuit board back then.

Yep, I know the Servomorph. I've bought one to experiment with on a Plastic Magic project.
To drive the gun turrets on a 1/350 King George V battleship, where there ain't enough room (never mind weight margin) to mess about with cogs and pulleys.
I'm thinking two micro servos, Y lead, or even independent AB and XY turrets.
My German Turnigy re-brand has two pots that I can assign to these!

Many thanks to Colin-H for sending me the KGV kit in a wonderful package of 'stuff' as recompense for renovating and converting his Taycol Supermarine motor.
Was like Christmas all over again 😊
    Cheers, Doug 😎

HMS Cottesmore
I just thought I would post some photos of my HMS Cottesmore.
She is still a work in progress.
I have been working on her for about three years now.(in between other projects)
I purchased the hull And running gear from Fleetscale.
Everything else has been made by myself using odds and ends, bits and pieces including yogurt pots and a lot of LED's
I have a few more years work to do before she is completed, lots more bits to make.

    Thank's Bill.
The Build Log shows a lot more such as the Gun rotating and the lighting systems.

I will get back to working on these two projects someday.
