Another damaged fiberglass hull rescued. every thing else made by me. At 3/4"=1' a very big model. Completed 2012 but only sailed twice, a very good sailor just needs a big lake. The mast lifts & folds forward after removing the hatch. The top mast lowered, the bowsprit retracted and the sails raped around the shrouds, held in place with masking tape. ( this stops the lines from tangling.) Takes about 5 minutes to reassemble.
I have bought it from Robbe in Germany. it is 7 years old and it is working very well. There are two brushed motor and navy ESC from Robbe. I use it to drive some lake and pool in my city.
This model of the tourist attraction in Liverpool a few years ago.Sadly after a couple of mishaps all four have been withdrawn from service. The model however survives. it was scratch built from photos and site visits by myself (Max Ferrie).There were no plans available. it is about 28inches long and roughly 1/12 scale.It was built almost entirely from plywood. As you will see from video it operates on land and water. it is six wheel drive using differentials on all wheels. When in water it is prop drive. it has two small electric motors for power, the wheel drive being very low gearing (too low really it goes very slow on ground). it was completed in 2010, and is filmed sailing at the portable pond at Toys For Boys in Waterloo in 2010. it has sailed at Hoylake MBC also.
It is powered by two 6volt 4AH batteries in series to give 12volts.
Scratch built 1/48 scale Mersey ferry Snowdrop in current use on the Mersey (ex Woodchurch)
Model interiors fitted out with tables chairs people etc and 72 leds light to Illuminate the interior saloons.
Just completed and maiden voyage on Hoylake Lake on the Wirral.
2.4Ghz radio and a bilge pump just in case. Sails a treat with 100 passengers. Extensive use of plasticard on superstructure. Fibreglass hull from own mould.

As a regular traveller on the Woodchurch I would suggest your model is a very realistic representation. Paint wise the real boat was far from clean or well painted and in places the rust was all to evident.
It was a well loved and trusty vessel and I am sure I am not alone in having many happy memories of cross river trips on her and her sister ferries.
at last I took it for its first run on the lake and it went like a dream,can't tell you how good it looked lots of interest from others,its running on twin Emax EL4030/10 motors,two Hobbywing 60 brushless speed controllers and four 18.5 volt 5s1p LI polymer 4000 mah 35c batteries .what can I say but a really good kit from speed line models,would love to build the trent now but don't think the wife would let me go missing for another year in the shed but fingers crossed

This is the Metcalf kit and it has taken approximately two years to build!
It had its maiden voyage on Monday 8th July.
It is powered by two Speed 720 motors and a 12 volt battery.
It is sailed on Cheddar Model Boat Club lake in Somerset.

HMAS Fremantle (my first build and is still a work in progress) is a semI kit, hull and some fittings were supplied, most parts have been scratched built. She is powered by two MFA RE-385 5-Pole DC Motors, each controlled by a Mtroniks MicroViper Marine 10 ESC, supplied by one 6V 3.4 Ah lead acid battery, she has a running time of approx 90 minutes on the lake.
Sorry I can't answer that, I've never used lipo's so I can't give you a comparison. I've never had any problems with the sealed lead acid batteries, and use them on all my boats, they also double as ballast, as I would rather use batteries that dead weight.
Hey there, nevermind thanks for getting back to me though, I am beginning to move away from lipo's now myself, its only because I use em on my planes & cars so I just put 1 & 1 together & came up with 11

HI This is a Celia, I think, it was a caldercraft kit but am not sure. it is running on a 545 motor at either 6volt or 7.2volt with a 35mm 3blade brass prop. its performance is about right for the scale and type of boat. it sails at the Lake used by the Cwmbran Club. I bought it last year at the Shepton Mallet Show.
Yes this was a Caldercraft kit I built one and sailed it but not much room under the decks for your radio and batteries but really sailed well when set up right
Well, it took 24 years of "on again-off again" building but now its finished. I started the model the day we put the CAMPBELL in commission(I'm a plankowner) in 1988.The model measures 6 feet in length and is scaled at 1:48. The entire model is scratchbuilt from wood (hull, superstructure, deck) and few commercial parts were used. it's powered by two Dumas 12 volt motors as a direct drive system. I had hopes of adding working features such as lights, rotating radar antennas, articulating gun, working anchor but I was just happy to get it finished! it will probably make at least one run at the lake come springtime but the models ultimate "homeport" will be a museum, at 6 feet in length(and 40 pounds of ballast) it's a bear to handle just to get it into the car for transport. Still, I'm happy with the results, it was a model of a lifetime(but I'd never build another one like it)! 😉
Time well spent and the end result justifies the time taken. Please let us see some pics or even a video on the water before you berth in the museum 😀

Looks fantastic and what an achievement. I agree with Dave, it would be great to see some action shots before you 'retire' her to a museum. My heaviest boat is 25lb and I don't like carrying that any distance! She doesn't bounce about though.

HI There, I like what you've done with the boat it looks great.
The boat my father had was lost in time but when we sold the house I came across the plans, little bit moth eaten but decipherable.
I want to start and rebuild the boat within this this year from totally zero but don't seem to find many "parts" for it.
I Like originality in looks but love new technology built in as well.
Is it possible to ask for some pictures that I can use for reference when building please.
