CalMac landing craft ferry-Mv Carvoria
Iโve been gifted a ready- made wooden pontoon style hull which Iโm adapting into a model of the smallest CalMac ferry operating to the island of Kerrera from Gallanach(Oban)
The vessel is 12 m long and can carry up to 12 pax & 1 small vehicle . Motive power is a pair of Honda 80 outboard motors.
My model will be approx 1:24 scale powered by a brushed motor, with twin rudders. Eventually I intend to make dummy motors for the stern .
I am in dire need of some suitable CalMac decals . If anyone still has any surplus BECC ones from their own build Iโd gladly make you an offer!
First pic with mock-up wheelhouse( probably oversize at moment!)
Progress reports in due course

Teign C
Another winter build just requiring a few bits and pieces.
Anyone familiar with my home port of Teignmouth,S Devon, will probably have noticed a diminutive bed- levelling dredger operating regular in the outer channel. This is Teign C, a Damen 14 metre STAN utility,tug/ dredger.
Last summer,I acquired an old Graupner 14 inch Pollox tug hull fitted with new motor and hardware which with a little mod. to the bow ,formed an ideal basis for a 1:32 scale version of Teign C.
There are plenty of pix of the real craft on tโinternet, so I made a start. The thin plastic moulded hull was strengthened with Plasticard, and the wheel house also made of the same material.
The โploughโ was a plastic battery box from an old RTR boat, and the model is fitted with a rock crawler winch so the dredge can be raised or lowered as required.
Some minor painting etc and ready for March trials!

Barge / Lighter
This build almost complete to compliment the Bangkok tug.
Measuring 750mm L x 200mm beam x 100mm depth with laden draft Approx 65 mm.
Mixed ballasting- roof flashing lead, water tank, and two shallow trays of aquarium gravel glued with PVA. Pretty heavy and not too sure if a tad top heavy. Sea trials in late March

Bangkok River Tug
Current build is my take of a generic tug used on the Chao Phraya River in Thailand. Scratchbuilt on an ABS moulding using only photos( no drawings) . These colourful craft work in groups towing several 600 ton barges on the river.I am building a suitable lighter to compliment the tug.
Pix of final ballast test before bonding hull and superstructure and further detailing of fenders, lights etc
