Baby Bootlegger
The bootlegger has been a race boot in the 1920.
Some time ago, I purchased from eBay an old "kit" containing wood and parts for the rudder, prop, and prop drive.
This lovely boat is constructed with a ply hull and covered all over with mahogany.
It drives very smoothly, but when going fast through curves, the open canopy allows water to enter into the hull.

Thames Barge Celia Jane
Build from the drawings of David Metcalf. It is almost finished and I'm looking forward to get here sailing.
Main sail, forsail, leeboards and rudder are controlled. A motor is as well on board.

Hello ian,
I purchased a plan from Gilberto Penzo . From this plan I only used the shape of the hull and the height of the cabin. The rest is copied from photos on the internet.
I have fitted a stern drive that is partly hidden in a flooded compartment behind the motor. In the rear, where the stern drive comes out of the hull, I designed a cover and 3D printed it.
With the stern drive I found that you have to grease it by appying grease into the small tube/pipe on top of the drive. This has nowhere been shown in any paper that I have seen.

Some progress with my taxi boat.
The steps make a nice detail. Implementing the windows was challenging: first the fittings and then gluing the "glass" without making a mess of it. I used a suction pen, used for handling SMDs, to hold and handle the glass.
Still need to add some handles and doors.
The boat is easy to steer, and the bow thruster is working fine.

About the sterndrive, I believe this drive originaly comes from Graupner (G for Graupner), but this compagny doesn't exist anymore, only there sender/receivers survived.
I purchased my Sterndrive with Bauer-Modelle.com.
The driver is from 3drifter-miniatures.de
My original drawings came from Gilberto Penzo in Venice,

Very nice ship. How does she sail, I see no keel?
My Finkenwerder Fischewer has no keel and no motor, this makes sailing a challenge.
Once she had to be recovered from the bottom of our pond, but she is sailing again.

I bought, in Germany, some schottel drives from them, no problems.
What I learned from parts I ordert in England is that customs is difficult and taxes have to be paid by the receiver, before the parts will be passed through customs. This took some weeks.
Brexit didn't make it easier for us.
At the end all worked out fine but it took a couple of weeks.
Cheers Willem๐

Hi Mike,
I'm using the Anycubic i3 Mega and a 3d program called FreeCAD.
After some problems with the filament I found some reliable stuff and no problems. Currently I'm building the "ENAK" from scratch; a Crane ship. Have a look at the photos.
Most components are printed, the hull is constructed from ply.
I can really recommend this machine that is not that costly.

Thanks for your suggestions. I looked at goBilda, but they seem to be sold out. I will try a servo expander, that should work with my old analogue transmitter.

Does anyone know of a strong servo that rotates a full 180 degree?
Last Christmas I got a 3d printer and decided to build the "ENAK", a floating crane were I could get plans and a lot of information on the internet. All the details I have to construct and draw; keeps me buzzy as well as the 3d printer.
Now about the schottel propulsor, this needs to rotate a full 360 degree. With a belt there is a 1:2 rotation enhancement, but the servo has to deliver a full 180 degree.
I noticed that servo's sold as 180 degree rotate only 90. So now I'm looking for a servo that really rotates 180 degree.

Hi,
years ago I build the Aeronaut Pinguin, only 62 cm, my first sailing boat. She also had a cockpit, that I sealed completely, so no problems with water.
The servo for the rudder was in the rear and couldn't be reached anymore after completing the deck. The batteries were located in the bulb of the keel. Receiver and sail servo could be reached through the canopy. She was real fun to sail. Unfortunally I had no pictures made and after 20 years she was scrapped. Good luck with your project. It is always fun to have a small boat that you can take with you without effort and sail wherever you like.

Hi, please apologize my englisch that makes it difficult to understand.
There are 4 RC winches aboard that control circular ropes.
One for the mainsail, one for the foresail and one for each leeboard.
Together with the each leeboard, the corresponding running backstay is loosened.
The foresail is attached to the fore horse and can be handled as you described how a crew member will do.
I found the facebook group, this gives me a lot of inf, thanks.

Yes I'm also anxious to see her on the water.
The leeboards have lead sheet inside, their weight will pull them down and are lifted by winch. Together with the leeboard going down, the stay that goes from the mast to the middle of the ship is loosening. This helps to let the main sail more swing out.
The foresail is separately controlled, so she can help to get the bow through the wind when tacking.
I have a question about fastening the forestay lead. The plan shows that it is attached to the Samson Post on the bow, but this post collides with the anchor chain. After studying lots of photos on the web, I still have no clue how this is done. Also many photos show no Samson Post at all.

You're right, she has no keel; but I managed to reach all corners of the pond. This was good enough for me. I had to use fore sail and main sail as well as the leeboards to keep here on course or turn through the wind, quite a challenge. Capsizing has never been a real problem, ease of the sheets did the trick.
As soon as my Celia Jane goes on the water, also without a keel, I'll see how she is doing. The test in the bathtub showed she can handle enough inclination, after I put some lead in the hull.
