So far I have the bottom and sides planked. Every board has been tapered on the sides. Long slow process 😔. So far excellent results 😁. Flagstaff and jackstaff finished up. Fingers are sore...I will update soon I hope. RR

So far...so good! I am slowly getting there, and I have a few small gaps that will need filling. Anyone have suggestions about filling before staining? Stainable wood filler? Tinted wood filler? Mahogany filler stick? White glue with sanding dust? I know you will be able to see it even though they are small but I don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb. Starting on the deck today, the black plastic strips for caulking are .020 and look quite nice. Thanks for all the help from everyone 👍👍👍 RR

I used .020" thick black styrene strips for the caulk lines. I cut strips into .100" x 24" strips from a sheet 12" x 24" with an exacto and straight edge. The mahogany planks are.070" thick. After gluing I used 80 grit on a hard sanding block to knock down the plastic to level with the planks. The pictures show before and after 80 grit sanding. The lines will get sharper as I finish sand with 180 grit and finally 220 grit. (I will have more pictures soon.) The deck will be "natural" while the hull will be stained for a subtle two tone effect. RR

Good days work today. Finished up the mahogany deck planking and sanded the bow till my arms said no more. (12 hour day) 😐 Before and after photos for reference. Happy with the results, and no more planking!!! 😵💫😎!!!. I think my Biceps got a little bigger 💪🤣. RR

Another good days work! All finish sanded, check for cross grain sanding twice so far. I'm going to stain tomorrow . The small gaps you see will be filled and probably show up dark. (That's ok for who it's for 😉) After a good drying time I will start the fiberglass cloth (not my favorite) This is a tough job (thought about skipping it) but I will do it. 😁 I am using Total boat brand epoxy resin with a small foam roller. Update soon 👍 RR

Final sanding was done with my magnifier, I sanded all the cross sanding marks out. The stain is applied (might do 2 coats) all this will darken up when the resin is applied. The last pic is the next step in my process. The 2oz cloth lays over very nice (better than I thought) so I will do the bottom of the hull in 1 piece first and the deck and sides in 1 piece second. Unfortunately our weather is not good 27F tonight, so not sure when.... I will update asap 👍

Well I got the glass cloth laid on without to much trouble. The two tone effect I was trying for did not do so well but I'm happy with the results. Adding decals and putting several coats of resin. Working on the fittings and windshield while waiting for dry time. Feeling relieved to have the finish coats going on. Just wish the two tone effect would have been more successful. Thanks for all the support from this site and all you "Good guys" I will update asap. RR

Good days work today. Sanded with 220 grit wet sandpaper again, (about 4 hours) applied the decals, brushed another coat of resin, waited til it tacked up good (about 2 hours) and put another good coat of resin. I will sand again tomorrow and recoat once more to bury the decals. She is looking good. I will update soon 🙂

Another good day, same process, sanded with 220, another coat of resin. The decals are under the last 2 coats. At this point I will sand again with 600, establish the waterline, paint and apply 2 coats of automotive high solids clear. ( same thing is on most new cars ) It has to be cured for a day or two now with 5 coats of resin in 3 days. The first pics are bright sun, last two are late in the day. RR

Hi Rogal, It is 1/10 scale 42" long, all the fittings are chrome and I will have a captain (currently looking for a good fit) I will also build a trailer for the stand to display. Thanks RR
The weather was pretty good so I painted the bottom today. I use this paint for the color and the stripe is vinyl tape. Rudder and stuffing box finished. Good days work with no trouble. Tomorrow I will clear it, I hang it up level (not an easy chore) but makes the job much nicer and spray it clear 😁

Great color River Rat! Like me you have a weakness for the Painter's Touch!!! Great stuff, especially on a dry day. I know you already know this, but remember: when you go with a clear coat let the Painters Touch gas out till you can't stand to wait anymore. Because, if you think it's dry, it's not. I push for 2 days at the earliest. I also always make test shots on similar scrap wood to test my clear coat options. Sorry, it's a 55 year obsession with me. 😉😂
PS. Did you prime under the Personal Touch? Just curious.
