I think it works simply like this:

The percentage expresses exactly the ratio of your correct and incorrect answers.
Since you are the only one participating for your country, feedback is very easy.
If you are alone, the maximum number of answers given is 30 or 31.
For example you (and therefore all of Belgium) now have 26 correct answers out of a total of 30 which is precisely the percentage of 86.66667 % (26:30=x:100; x=26/30 x 100).

If you have the total number of correct answers, for example 30 out of 30 you will have one hundred percent; but it will be enough to get one wrong to immediately reach 97% (in fact 29:30 =x:100; x=29/30 x 100 = 96.66667%).
Attention, be very careful here:
All subsequent correct answers will not change your 97% because the system updates after 30 days, so you will always have 29 correct questions out of a total of 30.
To get 30 correct questions out of a total of 30 questions given, you must get them all right and wait 30 days for your incorrect question to clear.
I don't know if I was clear, I hope so.
I didn't understand this system until I was told that it updates on a monthly basis.
Now everything is clear to me and everything adds up perfectly.

If I can help you, I'll give an example with Germany (I think it's just RNinMunich). Now he has 97% because he got a question wrong. You will be able to get 100% again when one month passes from the date of the last wrong answer (always answering correctly).

The system (although questionable) is correct, so far it has not made any errors, at least from what I have found.

Yessir Roy, you don’t often see silver plate photos (pre-civil war) so expertly done. The format was 8.5 x 6.5 inches and the only issues back then was the quality of the lens glass. Fortunately these photos are terrific considering all the lens obstacles. I knew you would like them.
I scanned them from a couple of David MacGregor’s books, which are incredible. I believe he owns one of the world’s largest privately held photo archives of the Clippers. The extreme wide shots taken at the Foochow anchorage of ships like Ariel and Thermopylae during the tea trade don’t stack up quite as well, but they are fascinating all the same. I will scan some more. 😉

On the subject of "highest points" and for grins...When tall was TALL. Syren on the right (circa 1858) and Caravan on the left (circa 1860). Both American medium clippers and minus their skysail booms which would have made the mast-top about 145 feet from the deck. Yikes! The figures in these photos give a a wonderful illustration of height/perspective. The Syren was still plying the seas 50 years later! I will double check Caravan's history

In my days as a cadet in the MN I like many other cadets before and after was send to the ships stores to get a spare wheel for the TRUCK which was the top most part of the mast.
I assume it is still the same .

You have to go along with the options. When I was young I was asked a simple question including my options.

I have to disagree with what is showing as the correct answer. I would have thought it was the mast head.

In defense of this question none of the other choises qualify.
Now if Titanic was an option we would know where we are. Also unfortunately where the lowest point was as well.

But I digress (possibly my best subject) one might presume that be where a person might go, as sitting on a radar scanner would not get you anywhere.

In Nelson's day there always seem to be a lad standing on the button, I grow cold just thinking about it. I wonder how many survived that into their 'teens?

My sailing was dinghy racing and I know the button on top of mast is the highest point, the crows nest is just below the button as the person in the crows nest has to hold onto something!

The top of the mast (The Button) extends above the crows nest so is higher!

I beg to differ with the answer ....
