This is a Dumas kit for a USCG Life boat 44' built in Curtis Bay Maryland Coast Guard yard. I've been working off and on this model for a couple of years.

I also have the same model, i struggled a bit with the balsa planking but eventually managed it. I was never happy with my UK version of the upperworks so ive since stripped it all down & am basically starting all over again but with the hull intact

Scratch built from a 1975 free plan, hull is balsa frames sheeted with basswood and covered with 3/4 oz fibreglass cloth, superstructure is styrene sheet, missile launcher from balsa block, forward bofors torpedo launcher from styrene sheet and wood dowl, photo etch ladders, white metal handrail stanchions, other fittings are brass and resin, lw-02 radar and directors are from shape ways rudders and stabilizers are balsa block, you get the idea.

A very nice execution of the old Model Boats free plan. I still have those plans (somewhat tatty after all these years) as well as the MB magazine they came with. How does she sail? Best regards, Glyn

Many thanks for your kind words, I've not sailed her yet, only test tank and had to up the water line a little bit for more stability, I also scaled up the plans to true 1/96 as the plan is around 1/100, the 1/96 fittings I bought from fleetscale were out of scale to the plan, and using the 1.1 water line length noted in the magazine article.

    You're dead right there Leslie,
First we have to get the damn things to DO the work, and do it RIGHT!

The department printer would always go kaputt on Friday evening when I wanted to print a 130 page system description and the courier was stamping up and down outside 😡
    "Brave New World" !!

Envy Jane belongs to my granddaughter Evy Jane.
It is sailed regularly at the Surrey park Dive, which is an old quarry in the city of Box Hill in Victoria Australia. We have a great facility and club house with approximately 130 members, we welcome new members and visitors and meet Sundays and Wednesdays.

Very nice indeed, it looks like 'Albion",which I had the pleasure of looking around at Oulton Broad; it's an excellent model. I also bought a set of plans from the preservation society so it seems we'll have the makings of a fleet soon!

We should live so long Ed 😉
I may have the machines necessary to make a steam engine, but I sure don't have the expertise necessary🤔, like Hammer 👍 for instance does have! Anyone out there making mini marine diesels????
    Cheers, Doug 😎
