Some of my boats during a last weekend outing. Boats are at My Harbour. The blue boat (Fishfully Thinking") is based upon American-made Chris Craft 30 Tournament Fisherman, Stamas 32 sedan, and Bertram 28 boats. The yellow boat ("Cheapskate") is partially based upon a Bertram 31 sedan. The white vessel ("Juyilanga") was inspired on now defunct company's Uniflite 28-footer "Salty Dog" sport fisherman. Last but not least, the pink boat ("Pinkey Pie") belongs to my daughter and was built using an old Graupner kit inspired on a Chris Craft Roamer of the mid 60s. 😁

    Nice Krampus 👍
Do I see the result of the plan we made in the "Juyilanga" ? Turned out very well 😉
    Cheers Doug 😎

Hello Doug! Actually, not in Juyilanga but in Fishfull Thinking. I took a line here and there from our plan for the superstructure. I utilized ABS plastic instead of wood. No need to mess with fiberglassing and no cracking on the Alpine cold waters. Notice that I used the same type of hull on these two boats. Happens that Fishfull Thinking was originally another boat I had, but not happy with the superstructure, I rebuilt the whole thing but kept its fiberglass hull almost intact. Both hulls were home made by a guy in California. 😁

Flower Class Corvette
A short selection of the flower class corvettes of the Portsmouth Model Boat Display Team. All made from the same 1/48 hull mould, they are not exact replicas - more designed to look 'good' on the water. Finely detailed models do not tend to remain finely detailed for long with the abuse the Team puts them through!
I am going through the photo collection and having a good sort out and reorganisation (thanks to my old laptop crashing) amd will post more as I can.

Perkasa Class
Perkasa MTB

A favourite model boat there must have been hundreds if not thousands made.
When I brought mine there was a choice between two sizes 36in (90cm) or 48in (120cm) and then you could choose between a wooden hull or a fibreglass hull. I went for the smaller boat with the fibreglass hull. this was back in the 1980s.

Background of the boat
The boats Perkasa class consisted of three motor torpedo boats built by Vosper (UK) for the Malaysian Navy as follows:-

Perkasa 150
Penula 151
Handalan 152

This model has 3 motors, port & starboard are Graupner 600s and one 700 type in the centre runs 3 ESCs front and rear guns operate via servos, with flashing LEDs down the barrels.

Fishfull Thinking
Greetings from Germany! I've been out of the net for a while and rebuilding this boat with a totally new superstructure, paint job and electronics. I obtained the fiberglass hull measuring 24.5 X 9 inches from a California fellow via E-bay. Formerly a 45-footer Chris Craft at 1:24 scale, this updated vessel was inspired on a 1970s 30-footer Chris Craft Tournament Fisherman and on 1970s 28 and 33-footer Bertram boats. 😁 The Chris Craft in the attached picture from an early days brochure was the very only Chris Craft utilizing a Deep-Vee hull. The story goes that they apparently copied their boat following the lines of a Bertram 28 based on famed boat designer Ray Hunt. Bertram sued in court and Chris Craft ended up building less than 200 boats of this type. After all, the Chris Craft vessel ended up being better than the Bertram in terms of cabin space and overall value. Highly cherished within the American sports fishing community, many of these boats are still up and running.

Michael
Dumas kit Carol Moran, renamed Michael for my first grandson. My first build, learning how to make those brass railings each post being soldered following a paper pattern. Some customizing at the request of my grandson with added port holes, and deck features. He helped to paint it.

Looks great.... a ‘team’ effort. Well done. I’m just beginning my first build having just finished a workstation to house tools etc. All very satisfying.

Lots of nostalgia and really looks like a working tug.
Be good to see some on water pics. Your grandson must be very proud and is to be congratulated on the painting.

Hector Read
e Hector Read was built in Hull in the 60s for the Gt Yarmout port and Haven as their new Harbour tug to be moored at the pilot station in Gorleston. Giving many years service, was finally sold on when most working ships were fitted with bow/stern thrusters. Much missed as part of the river scene. A scratch built model I made 18 years ago from photo’s and drawings from the Port Authority. Anyone know her ultimate fate?

A very fine scratch built scale model and the pics show lots of fine detail.
Typical of the period and sadly missing from our river scenes.
    Does the model sail?

Thanks Dave, Hector Read model powered by a speed 600 brushed electric motor with an electric speed controller. This gives plenty of oomph when it comes to rescuing stranded craft large or small on the pond, which is always a challenge I can never resist.

"Westbourne"
Westbourne is a Port of London Authority steam Tug from the Caldercraft Mini-Fleet Range - it is 1:48 scale. This model was discontinued a few years ago but I did manage to purchase a brand new boxed one via ebay a couple of years ago.

During her time Westbourne was hired by the Royal Navy as a rescue tug. She saw service with them between October 1916 and July 1919 in the HM Dockyard. Prior to that she was on general towing service duties on the Thames.
She can be found mentioned in “SHIPS OF THE ROYAL NAVY, 1914-1919 - by TYPE & CLASS
Section 3. SUPPORT and HARBOUR VESSELS”

Following the first world war ‘Westbourne’ was one of three tugs attached to the Port of London Authority (PLA) Dredging Service, they were the "Westbourne", "Thorney" and "Brent", they were all fitted with a drag and under running gear.In 1940 during the Battle of Britain. ‘Westbourne’ and many other tugs were used in assisting the berthing of these large ships that entered the Thames.
The photos show from box to construction plus her on the water.

Nicely finished model of this now discontinued kit.
I like the details about the tug and her career, sadly our river scenes no longer feature the tugs that were an essential part of the docks and shipping of the time.
