๐ Adding a Reverse to Forwards Only ESC?

Zooma.. I had a different issue, but needing the same solution.. (I have an ESC WITH a reverse function that I disabled as I don't have a reverse throttle stick position on my Transmitter!!)
The attached photos show my solution. A 12v single throw, double pole relay, wired to reverse the polarity on the motor by flicking a switch on my transmitter. I now just view the throttle lever as an RPM device and the switch as the Forward/Reverse, kinda like a real cruiser!
BTW, this relay is a 30amp device.. (much more than the stall current on my 800 motor!)
This setup would also allow you to swap/reverse 2 of the 3 supply wires to your Brushless motor..
You might want to try a Watt meter on your setup to see what the actual peak current your motor draws.. A 150amp ESC on full load would blow the brains out of ANY mechanical switching device, in which case you SHOULD consider a Forward/Reverse Brushless ESC, providing your Transmitter will support this function on the throttle stick!!

In favour of fuses??
In Brushed motors.. Maybe! the the event of pond weed or sticks etc. stalling a motor, they could save the ESC/Motor from burnout.
In Brushless motors... Maybe NOT! Brushless motors and ESC's have the potential of sinking much more transient current than most DIY fuse holders can handle. Every time you overload the fuse holder, it will heat up. Every time it heats it stresses the contacts and increases the resistance which causes more heat. The path to a final failure of the holder has started.. Brushless ESC's have far more motor/esc protection technology in them than a fuse will offer. In these setups, I think Fuses are a liability not an asset!!

Lew, I shan't be painting this one.. It's not for the Cruiser it was a test for the printer and the figure scale/size.
I do have a few figures I will print and paint but not for a while I think!

My freebie test print subject.. The print quality is acceptable and I can scale these figures to fit the boat just as I want them, (this little girl is about 90mm high).. I just hope my painting skills do them justice..

I have downloaded a test figure from 'www.yeggy.com'.. I'll try to print some and see how they turn out. I have never imported .stl files to print before, just printed my own creations. This is a new experience!!

Thanks for all your input guys.. I have contacted Holden8702 for help. Unfortunately I cannot go below 1:20 scale, 1/18 is what I would prefer. All the other suggestions here were either too small or out of stock.. (Howes models O/S!)

Could anyone possibly assist me by providing a supplier/manufacturer of 1:20 scale people (around 95-100 mm). I have scratched around for days looking online for people to this scale..
TIA...

I use Spektrum dx7. Its reliable and if it gets water in it, the bits are cheap to replace! (With the mod to the voltage regulator, I get about 5hrs power up time, for each charge cycle!)
