- jelley_babyChief Petty Officer 1st ClassHI Ianed57, what are you running it on it looks very good under power. I have one that was bought from Ebay that looked as sad as yours did, I think that we must be mad to take on these projects but it would be sad to just abandon these fine old models from the fifties. I have some photos of mine under Pleasure Crafts posted in July this year. Graham ( jelley_baby ) 😀HI Ianed57, what are you running it on it looks very good under power. - ianed57Sub-LieutenantHI Graham,HI Graham, Yes I remember your Wavemaster- I think we had a conversation about the photos at Portishead. I have to say I was delighted with the look and performance of this boat and without suggestions from folk on this site it wouldn't have been so successful. I'm using a Graupner 700 on two 3s lipos in parallel with a 37.5mm X type prop. I'm using two lipos because I wanted them in the middle of the boat-one either side, so I made up a parallel connector. The suggestions which have helped me have been to use lipos, buy a wattmeter and to try ModelBoatBits rubber couplings- all brilliant! I'm just in the process of stripping paint off an old Maycraft Mercury and I must say, I prefer to build from new materials and not having to work round someone elses bodges! Ian

The first, rebuilt by Kalamunda, is brushless with NiMh cells and the second, having it's first sail since being rebuilt by Ian Gardner, has a Graupner 700 with 3s Lipo's (in parallel) on a 37.5mm X type prop- Electronize 30amp esc.
I think these are lovely looking old boats designed by Les Rowell of Aerokits fame, and obviously based on traditional cruisers from the Norfolk Broads- see Martham Boats, where you can still hire a wooden craft like these, although you'd definitely have the river inspector after you if you sailed up the Thurne at these speeds!
- ianed57Sub-LieutenantHI Graham,HI Graham, Glad you liked the video. They are smashing boats aren't they? I really fancy a new IP Engineering one but have too many other projects on the go to make it a sane decision! I have to say my WM is the best running of my faster boats, which include a Lesro Sportsman and a Rapier. She seems to hug the water in turns rather than bounce around, so a great design I think. I'd be interested to hear how you arranged you gearing on your WM. Did you make it up or but a ready made unit? Ian

Now for some water trials to see what mods are required.

2. After about 2 weeks of very hard work it looks much better. it is running on a Johnson 600 size motor and 6v Gel Battery for its first sail at the Cwmbran Model Society tomorrow, so I hope that is will be OK. it does not appear to be an Aeroits model as the cabins remove from the hull. Not just the Cabin tops. I will try and supply some action photo's later.

The video clip was taken on the Fireboat Funday where many of these models were on display together with other Aerokit models.
I had to send a way to Germany to get the plans so I could refurbish it, and some of the bits I had to make myself. it is powered by twin monoperm super 5 motors. it has rotating radar, working mast lights, and bow thrusters. Sailed at Cheddar Steam Modals lake.
- BASHERLeading SeamanReally nice model I did see this kit for sale about three years back on fleebay. It was along with the Calypso which I was keen to buy and did successfully get for £150 ,The other boat from the same seller was the Oceanic, which I later wished I had also bid for sold also for £150 ..Your model does look superbReally nice model I did see this kit for sale about three years back on fleebay. It was along with the Calypso which I was keen to buy and did successfully get for £150 ,The other boat from the same seller was the Oceanic, which I later wished I had also bid for sold also for £150 ..Your model does look superb IAN 👍
IAN 👍 - circle43nauticalChief Petty Officer 2nd ClassWhat a nice find & good friend!What a nice find & good friend!
It was refurbished in 2004 which included fitting a new RC and electric motor. When it was first built it was free running, powered by Tacol Supermarine which remains in my workshop, still working.
I sail with the Chantry Club on lake at Bluewater shopping complex in Kent.
I built an Elke in January 1974 for my son. We sailed it together for a couple of years and then he lost interest (girls!) it spent the next forty five years in my loft (The model - not my son) until l resurected it a few years ago and, after a bit of a dusting and a spot of glue, relaunched it. it still had the original McGregor Digimax radio and speed controller fitted which, after renewing the batteries in both the receiver and tranny, still works a treat. I've since added a crew and some other refinements and it's often included in our Club displays. Hope you get as much enjoyment from your model as we have.
