Found old photo First R/C model & Transmitter & Speed Control
This is a photo I found in a old album .It's my first R/C controlled model & I think it was a Billings tug The Sampson .The radio was a Cox Sanyo transmitter & Receiver . I had to get a C/B license back then to operate the radio . Years later I removed the deck & cabin & used the hull to make the North Rock tug boat . That's the speed control that I would have used back then.😊

I recall getting GRS licences for two "CB" mobile radios & a base station in the mid-70s, & also a licence for a 72 MHz $400 Cox-Airtronics 4-function radio system for 100"-span Standard-class gliders, using only rudder & elevator servos. I believe the licences were $19 /yr each back then.
In abt 1990 INDUSTRY CANADA narrow-banded the RC channels & therefore was able to add a few more channels. The service category also became licence-exempt, but type-approved radio apparatus, certified for use in Canada, was still a legal requirement.
By then CB radios were 40ch

Nordkap 476 followed me home from my Florida vacation ....
I had seen it listed on another website. I made arrangements to look at it while in Florida on vacation. Before I left, I found myself forking over cash. 😄😲
It is a Billings Nordkap 476.
I have pictures from his build log, I am also posting some of them.

Haven' seen water in a while so off to the harbor . This was one of the first models I'd ever built in 1974 . I went with my girlfriend to a little creek at Confederation park just in front of the old Hutches fish & chip shack put it in and the rudder jammed full over and it corkscrewed and sank I jumped in without realizing water was only about a foot deep and two feet muck . Moral of the story is she's still my wife .

(Billings kit Carol Moran) I filmed it tonight with my cell phone. Added some deck details and will be towing an old Tugboat as seen in photo.

The hull looks in good shape from the photo. Have fun with the restoration though. Plenty of scope...Could be steam powered?

    All the best. Brian

Much better than the hull of the ancient Billing fish cutter Gina 2 I've just started to restore and convert. Took the deck out last night to reveal the awful hull planking 🤔
Good luck, will watch with interest 👍
    Cheers, Doug 😎

i have that same kit i bought just before my daughter was born in 1989. she is undergoing a "fleet rehab & maintenance"
overhaul currently. actually the first true rc watercraft i
started with, after a lifetime of building static models. that kit was of high quality, but has of course been discontinued some years ago. i transferred her from uscg lifesaving station manasquan inlet, new jersey, to uscg lifeboat station ludington, michigan, and changed the hull number from cg-44329 to cg-44345. i served in the uscg in nj, but always wanted to be stationed in ludington, mi. semper paratus!

I've been building this Billings kit for some years now. [laid the keel in 2007 !!] but I'm slowly getting there. I've just recently joined this Website so not sure if this is the correct place to post some pictures of this build plus a yacht and steam launch. I'll start here anyway and no doubt someone will advise me for future postings.

    Hi sandkb
Looking good. if you are intending to post build updates and ask for help I suggest you go to Build Blogs and start your own blog. You can then keep adding to the blog when you have progressed with the build. it not only helps inspire others, but may result in others sharing their own experiences with similar builds.
Good luck with the build and if you like my post please tick the like box.
