With all the members permission I would like to share my Galilee Boat project.
Here is a brif story of how I got my hands on the model.
I have to mentioned where I got this kit from because is always good the real story behind the kit.

Scott Miller owns the business and I asked him how he came to produce this now famous boat kit.

This was his exacts words:

I was a moderator at MSW when Captian Pugwash was running the site and had just moved on from building kits to scratch building. I did the Triton cross section build that was going on at the time and that got me interested in building models other than standard scale ships. This lead me to building boat models because they are fun to build and can be done in much less time than a three master ship. The also don't require a lot of rigging which was attractive to me as well.

One model that was fun to build and could easily be scratch built was Midwest's Peterborough canoe kit. I made quite a few of these as gifts and this introduced me to building on a strong back and using thin CA glue to weld planks together

I started looking at different boats that I could model and found that no one offered a Sea of Galilee boat model kit other than a paper one from a German company. I found an excellent book by Shelly Wachsmann about the discovery of the Kinneret boat and that book had a set of ships plans in it. I used those plans plus what I had learned from building Peterborough canoes to build the first 16" Sea of Galilee model.

Many of you guys know that this is an old model that has been in the market for a long time and reproduced by many model companies like Dummas 1259 SC-1, ITC Model class craft 1:74 (plastic), Ringo Toy Corporation NC. C-5820200 1:74, Glenco model 1:74 (plastic) and a few others.
I don’t know if I have mentioned this before but I receive many request to build models for a local well know model company that is Model Expo owned by Marc Mosko, also owner of Model Shipways, Model Trailways, Model Airways and Guns of History.
This Subchaser is R/C but I never added all of the radios and servos since it was going to be shown on the Model Expo showcase.
So here is what I build with many scratch build items.

Got some Stanchions for my scratch build Andrea Gail so did a litte video on one of the Stanchions.

This model is one of our club members he told me it's name but I forgot . She may be a sub hunter WW2.She is a scratch build with a lot of detail & I like the looks of her.

This is my first scratch build. I used hand tools and a jig saw to cut out the frame. and bulk heads. Keel and frame was cut out of plywood and the rest. of the boat is balsa. I out fitted with parts from various pieces I had pick up at hobby shops and suppliers online. The pilot house, stack and skylight is all hand made with wood and polystyrene fittings.
I downloaded the plans, altered the scale size and printed the hull and boat to scale. Again this was the first and I now am looking forward to another project.

This is my latest build and first time at scratch building. Other than the hull I've done everything else so far and learned a great deal in scratch building. The hull was built for me by John Elsy of Newcastle as I had no experience of lifting details from the basic layout plan I had, but will learn this soon. Various stages in the build to date. it has a Graupner 500 ECKO motor pulley drive. Motor sits above the propshaft on special engine mount and the shaft has an oiler. 2 ch Futaba `T2ER 40 MHz radio which is all hidden under the false planked aft working deck. it will run on a 12v 7amp gell cell battery with a FR30HX Electronize ESC. Currently building one of the cranes.

I have been building my scratch build PT 109 for the last 3 months, working sometimes only one or two evenings in the week. As you must all know you can only do so much before you have to stop and wait for glue or paint to dry :( but at last it is now completed, RC gear installed and a mighty 48" in length at 1/20 scale. Next will be the lake and a final trial run, I completed a 'bath' test a couple of days ago and it only just fitted in the bath but both motors run great. hope you like. Andy

This is a vessel that I'm building from scratch. To achieve accuracy I will be using a Tamiha 1/35 scale kit and scaling that kit up to 1/9th scale for the vessel I am building. it will measure up to almost 1 metre in length.

This is a boat plan I purchased. Built this several years ago. Mostly I do scratch builds.

This is a 1:100 scratch build of an (unnamed) Fort/Park class freighter, based on Jim Pottinger's drawings of a North Sands design. I'm building this as a DEMS ship. it has smoke and an overboard water discharge (if it works!).

These ships were built in many Canadian shipyards during WW2. Some went to British Admiralty - with Fort XXX names - and some went to Canadian government - named for Can. parks.

I haven't yet decided on the name for this model.

This Swede Johnson and his yawl and its captain, Popeye. Swede pasted away several years back, I wanted to post this in his memory. He scratch built all of his boats over the years and was well know for his leading edge designs like the US1 Meters and Marbleheads. He taught me to scratch build boats and sails. Yes, Popeye's arm moves with the acting tiller.
