1938 Chris craft barrel back
Built this in the late 90s and never really had the skills at the time to make the finish the high quality these boats deserve. After sitting on the shelf for over 25 years I finally dusted it off and stripped it back to bare timber. I nervously applied a thin west system epoxy to it and spent what felt like an eternity sanding it up to 800 grit then polishing it . It’s a beautiful boat now and resembles the boats that were used for joy rides in Sydney harbour . I used cali graphics for the decals and they are awesome . Also added led lights . Enjoy

Just beautiful, well done. I notice you are flying small flags, where did you source them from as I am looking for a small Italian flag to suit my Venice water taxi.👍👍

Aucklands' classic wooden boat festival ,1,2,3 March
Was invited to take my restored 1970s 12ft racing yacht (red and white one-93 at 1:3) down to put in the display this afternoon, at the Viaduct Event Center In Auckland, and decided to get some pics of the boats on and off water before the crowds come over the next 3 days. Lots of beautiful restored yachts and launches, as well as smaller racing and sailing dinghies. A couple of NZ designed and built Chris Craft copies inside as well. Also steam launches and a few models.

The boat at 1:54 and 3:12 does not have the usual V8 as you would expect, but has a 4 cyl Mercruiser motor, not as the drive motor, but as a generator running 3 high output alternators powering an electrical system for twin electric motors, (round black objects seen in pic, in front of petrol motor). Shafts run each side of petrol motor, Has large control boards on each side for each motor. Boat and laminated wooden trailer designed and built by the owner, Took 2000hrs to build,- absolutely immaculate workmanship.
Also a short vid on an Auckland ferry trip I took while waiting for the liner Queen Victoria to
depart

Chris Craft Corvette
This is the four foot Sterling model of the Chris Craft Corvette with sound module installed. I was able to reupload the video after using "Handbrake" software. Appears youtube doesnt like lower resolution videos.

The balsa is quite thick but good idea to line the inside with polyester resin either with standard glass cloth or I find it easier to mix talcum powder with the resin to a thick paste then paint on. The outside coated only with the liquid resin without glass as with the glass theres lots of very messy sanding and re finishing.

I did the inside with epoxy. The exterior is about 20 layers of paint.

Ultimate Enticement
This is a 1984 re-issue of a Lindberg Chris Craft Sport fishermen purchased used on Ebay. Some of the parts where broken and some partially assembled. The model did come with 2 MACK RC motors and some fabricated wood parts, including a template for the aft deck. The interior was assembled from quarter scale doll house items except for the dinette. There are 4 underwater LED bulbs with a dedicated power supply. The running, interior and radar unit are powered by a separate systems from the hull electrics. The second Li-po battery is for backup and balast. There are number of additional items added since these photos were taken including a stern seat and larger radar array .

Yes it's a full width rear seat but without a backrest. I'll post the new photos in the next couple of days.

Electric Barbarella
Ahoy Maties! it's been a long time since my last posting. Happy 2019! I just completed my new scratch-built boat "Electric Barbarella". I tried to recreate (with some liberties) one of my favorite boats of all time, the 30-footer Chris Craft Sportsman built during the 1970s. it measures 24 X 8.5 inches. it is powered with a 9.6 NiMH 4200 mAh battery "nunchuck" pack (like the one used for paintball guns), brushless motor attached to a 30A Mtroniks Hydra controller and a 30mm M4 3-bladed brass propeller. The hull (my own on-the-go design) was made out of Balsa wood which later I fiberglassed. For the superstructure I utilized 2mm ABS plastic sheet material. To my surprise the boat turned to be a very stable and forgiving platform. I really feel a very close connection to this vessel as it is my first own hull design.😁

She's a beauty!!! (And I am not talking about only the lady in the cockpit!)

I grew up a block away from the river, and there were a lot of pleasure craft in the area. Most of them were pre-70's as I left before then.
